Description
I bought some Archer Rx with vario for may large gliders. I needed to upgrade the Zorro with firmware 2.10.5 to get the FRSky X2 D16 protocol before I could bind the receivers. This all went well and I bought more of them.
But when I installed them in models I get very poor range. In Range check mode RSSI drops to 20 at about 50m. Switching to full power at that distance brings RSSI up to only 40. I did try to fly and I get about 150m away in the air before Signal Critical warnings. This is obviously completely inadequate for large gliders where a vario is useful.
I have the same issue with Archer Plus R6, GR6, and GR8 Rx. All have been tuned as recommended and optimised within the +10 to -10 range. All aerials are external to the fuselage.
I have used the Zorro extensively with Multiplex MLink and Spectrum RX and do not get Signal warnings until the limit of my eyesight. A friend using the same Archer Rx with his FRSky TX on Ethos has no similar issues. I have asked on RC Groups but have no useful replies.
I am not a guru in these things but it appears the new FRSky protocol on the Zorro does not function properly. Is there a solution or do I just sell off the new RX to FRSky users?
