What article on docs.github.com is affected?

The article affected is:

Specifically, the xAI models section needs to be updated to include the newly announced Grok Code Fast 1 model.

What changes are you suggesting?

The xAI models section should be updated to include the new Grok Code Fast 1 model that was announced in public preview. Specifically:

  1. Add {% data variables.copilot.copilot_grok_code_fast_1 %} to the "Used for:" list
  2. Update model descriptions throughout the section to reference both Grok models consistently
  3. Change the final paragraph to use plural "xAI models" for grammatical accuracy
  4. Ensure all existing data retention policies apply to both models

Why should the docs be changed?

  • The GitHub changelog from August 26, 2025 announced that Grok Code Fast 1 is rolling out in public preview
  • Users need accurate documentation about which models are available in GitHub Copilot
  • The current documentation only mentions the original Grok Code model

Expected outcome:

  • Documentation accurately reflects all available xAI models in GitHub Copilot
  • Users have clear information about data retention policies for both Grok models
  • Consistent language throughout the xAI models section

Additional information

Reference: Grok Code Fast 1 is rolling out in public preview for GitHub Copilot

The same data retention and privacy policies that apply to the original Grok Code model should apply to Grok Code Fast 1, as both are operated by xAI under the same zero data retention API policy.
