With the initial_hvac_mode configration value a HVAC mode can be set. But there is no further explanation on the mode and how it can be changed later.

Additional information
I have the feeling that it is an on/off toggle the depends on the value of ac_mode. For false, on is 'heat' and true it is 'cool'. Right?
