Modern School, Lucknow is a co-educational K–12 day school based in Lucknow, India. It was the first school in India, and amongst only among a few in the world to be certified for ISO9001, on 29 May 1997.[1] The school's official website is at http://www.themodern.in [2]

History

Established in 1980, The Modern, situated at Aliganj, Lucknow, India, is a co-educational K–12 day school run by Kapoor Educational Society. The school was founded by Shri Rakesh Kapoor, educationist and teacher of meditation, under the inspiration of Shri J Krishnamurthi. Mr R. K. Trivedi D. Litt., LL.D. (H.C.), former Governor of the State of Gujarat and Chief Election Commissioner of India is the patron of the school. The current Chairman of the school's Advisory Council is Mr Justice D. K. Trivedi former Senior Judge of the High Court of the state of UP. It is currently principled by Ms. Meena Kane.

Awards and recognition

The Modern is the first school in the country to be certified for ISO9000 since May 1997.

The Modern was also awarded the Golden Peacock National Quality Training Award for excellence in staff training in 1998.[3]

Recently, since January 16, 2009, The Modern is also the first school in India to be accredited to the Quality Council of India's [4] NABET Standard for Quality School Governance [5].
