PR
I peer reviewed one of your articles, Emily Ratajkowski. Don't know if you are still watching it, so I thought I'd let you know. I have one up for PR as well and haven't had any takers, so I thought I'd do somebody else's. White Arabian Filly (Neigh) 20:58, 7 December 2015 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for December 8
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Emily Estefan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Dade County. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Emily Ratajkowski image
Thanks; it looks like she was in 2 videos from the same source on almost the same subject, and I got the wrong one while looking for the best shot to crop. This one should be correct. Thanks for the catch! --GRuban (talk) 19:06, 10 December 2015 (UTC)
- YouTube conveniently hides its licensing under the SHOW MORE link in the middle of the page. --GRuban (talk) 01:25, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
- GRuban, Not all Creative commons lisences are WP compatible. It must either be CC BY (Attribution) or CC BY-SA (Attribution-ShareAlike). Other CC license forms are not WP compatible. I now see that this is apparently CC BY. I have never seen a YouTube CC BY license before.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 03:05, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2016 is just around the corner...
Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins.
After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine (User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason (User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew (User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors.
We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition.
The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.
If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Hi. I've made fairly minor changes to this article so far, and my plans were merely to clean it up a little. I admire your boundless enthusiasm, but I disagree with you about the readiness of this article for promotion. I don't think it's even close to ready for a GA-class nomination. If you are going to nominate it for something, let me know so that I can de-watch it and let you work on it. All the best! -- Ssilvers (talk) 06:25, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
you're in the news
Congratulations! It is awesome that you are honored by satire, that means you have really made it in the world, I think. This regarding pretty funny send up of Nik Stauskas article largely developed by you, referred to in the Signpost of a couple weeks ago that I just saw. I don't see this mentioned on your Talk page; I do presume you have been referred to it already, right?
I figure the Wikipedia article is a bit rambling because it probably evolved as the guy's career marched forward, and also because you're probably interested in bringing it up to a featured article sometime. It will be easier to delete it down than to build up the info to the right level, I would expect. It is a bit funny that "NCAA" and some other acronyms are spelled out, but a Good Article reviewer required it, I noticed. While reading the review for a while I thought the author didn't understand one can look up the edit history, but then it turns out he can interpret it fine, and I like how he is respectful of you.
Happy New Year!
cheers, --doncram 09:38, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
P.S. Ah I see you responded at the article Talk page, including that it's long because you 5X'd it for a DYK. I do hope you're pleased with the review; I see it as funny, polite, and an homage to Wikipedia in general. :) --doncram 09:50, 31 December 2015 (UTC)
