This templates indicates that a word is an onomatopoeia and links to the glossary section explaining the term. It is used in etymology sections. It places the entry in a language-specific subcategory of Category:Onomatopoeias by language.
Parameters

(required)- The language code (see Wiktionary:Languages) for the language of the current etymology.
|title=
(optional)- Overrides the default text that is displayed; labels such as imitative will link to the corresponding glossary entry.
|nocap=1
- Shows the default text with a lowercase initial letter.
|notext=1
- Don't display any text.
|nocat=1
- Don't categorise the entry.
|sort=
(optional)- The sort key to use for categories.
