Etymology 1

From Old Irish dlúth, from Proto-Celtic *dluti-, of uncertain ultimate origin, but possibly sharing a Proto-Indo-European root with Ancient Greek θλάω (thláō, to bruise); also compare φλάω (phláō).[2]
