Appearance
Sweden Solar System is the world's largest permanent scale model of the Solar system on the scale 1 to 20 million. The inner bodies can be found in and around Stockholm, and the outer bodies are scattered across northern Sweden.
Destinations
[edit]Since the inception in 1998, some of the models have been replaced or removed.
- 1 Globen (Sun) (Södermalm, Stockholm). The Globen arena represents the Sun.
- 2 Stockholm City Museum (Mercury) (Södermalm, Stockholm). The Mercury model is located on the museum courtyard.
- 3 Vetenskapens hus (House of Science) (Venus) (Östermalm, Stockholm). On the Albanova campus.
- 4 Natural History Museum (Earth and Moon) (Östermalm, Stockholm). Earth and Moon are on natural distance from each other at Cosmonova, the omnitheatre.
- 5 Mörby Centrum (Mars) (Stockholm's northern suburbs).
- 6 Stockholm Arlanda Airport (Jupiter). Represented by an illuminated ring in the ceiling of Sky City.
- Saturn: Uppsala. As of 2024, Uppsala has no physical model of Saturn, though some of the city's schools have models of Saturn's moons.
- 7 Lövstabruk (Uranus) (Tierp).
- 8 Söderhamn (Neptune), Strykjärnsparken.
- 9 Delsbo (Pluto and Charon), Furugatan 1E.

Related sites
[edit]A smaller scale model of the Solar System, 2.5 km long and with a diameter of the Sun at 76 cm, can be found along the main road of Örebro. Each sphere is accompanied by a descriptive plaque.
