The new romantics - a Regina Mills/Olivia Benson crossover ship
After the curse breaking, Regina Mills, local mayor and evil queen, is exiled against her will. However, the impredictable and volatile magic that sourrunders her makes her travel back in time.
When she wakes up, she’s Regina Mills, a rich girl with a huge house in Queens, New York. She’s a 22 year old law student living on her own in the Big Apple.
Looking for a way to keep earning money and blend in with her new life, she posts an ad on the internet looking for a roomate. When she meets her new roommate, it’s the 1st of November of 2001.
Enter Olivia Benson, 32, NYPD’s detective on the Special Victims Unit. A guarded and stressed woman who helps Regina throughout her unexpected pregnancy.
Eleven years later, Olivia and Regina are married. They have three children: Julia, Serena and Noah. Olivia is the sargent of the unit and Regina is one of the most succesful DA’s. Their lives are going well, but a boy named Henry showing up on their doorstep puts that in danger.
Now, Regina must confront the memories she once thought that were dreams and go back to Storybrooke with her entire family to save the town, even if it forces her to face past forgotten demons.

Hi! This isn’t random at all, asking me about my most favourite ship on the planet! To be quite honest, it didn’t start out as a romantic relationship. Olivia Benson and Regina Mills just happen to be my 2 favourite characters of all time. And at some point, long, long ago, I really wanted a photo of them together, so I made a manip. I made a few more, and over time, and with encouragement of others, it became a romantic ship and a legitimate (to me) ship with a name, fanfic, edits, and fellow shippers.
As for what I think makes them a great dynamic, other than being 2 fantastic individuals, is that at their core, they are the same. Both women had complicated childhoods (to put it simply). Both characters have been alone and hungry for a family and love and just more. Both women look at their sons like they hung the moon. They are both fearless, powerful women who have been to hell (literally for one of them) and back. I just can’t imagine a more powerful bond than what Olivia and Regina could have. Healing and growing and learning together.
Sometimes I look at it and think, how easily Olivia could’ve turned villain, but she chose love, and justice, and kindness. Fearlessness. And then I think about Regina, who did turn villain, but only after relentless abuse and manipulation. And yet, she found her way back to the light, to love, hope, and resilience. And I just… kind of melt a little, you know?
I just… ugh… I love them. I wish I could finish even one of the fic WIPs I have for them, because you wouldn’t need an explanation if I could put it out there. I’m in love with them, is the summary of it all.
