GIGO
An initialism for "garbage in, garbage out," meaning that having inferior or erroneous materials, information, instructions, etc., at the beginning of a process will yield inferior or incorrect results. Said especially of data and computer systems. When used properly, these automation services can expedite the process tenfold, but only if the people running them are putting in the correct information from the outset—GIGO. All the skill in the world won't help if you are cooking a dish with bad ingredients. As they say in the computer industry, GIGO. A: "Why did I get a #VALUE! error?" B: "Because your formula included a cell that only had text in it, when all of the other cells only contained numbers. So, ultimately, GIGO."
