be bogged down

To be burdened or impeded (by something). (A bog is an area of wet, muddy land that is difficult to walk through.) We've been so bogged down in the minute details of this project that we have hardly made any meaningful progress at all. I try not to be bogged down by other people's emotional issues at school. Other students are usually all too eager to offload their own baggage onto someone else. It sounds to me like you're bogged down in the day-to-day operations. As a manager, you need to be able to look at the bigger picture of the company.
