draft (someone) for (something)
To enlist someone for some purpose. A: "Why are you filing?" B: "Because the boss drafted me for all that busywork that had been piling up." Hey, Legal needs us to run another audit. Can I draft you for that? You're a tall fellow. Any chance I can draft you for hanging crepe paper and balloons?
draft into (something)
1. To conscript one into military service. A noun or pronoun can be used between "draft" and "into." Many young men were drafted into the army during the Vietnam War. In this country, we don't just draft people into the armed forces. A: "Grandpa, were you drafted into the army?" B: "No, I signed up as soon as I got out of high school."
2. To enlist one for some purpose. A noun or pronoun can be used between "draft" and "into." Unfortunately, the boss drafted me into planning this whole conference on my own. Hey, can I draft you into watching the kids while I run to the store? You're a tall fellow. Any chance I can draft you into hanging crepe paper and balloons?

To compose or prepare a document, proposal, or strategy. A noun or pronoun can be used between "draft" and "up." Once both parties reach an agreement, Stu will draft up the contract. You draft it up and then give it to me for approval. Legal still hasn't drafted up that paperwork for us?

slang To perceive that one is being snubbed, rejected, or made to feel unwelcome, often due to being the target of racism. 1. . Lit. to conscript someone into the armed services. The draft board drafted Scott into the army. Todd was drafted into the army.
2. Fig. to convince someone to participate in something. She drafted some of the boys into helping her move tables. They were drafted into helping.
