beer goggles
slang The perception that potential mates are more sexually attractive than one might think when sober, due to intoxication after consumption of alcohol (not necessarily beer). Cheryl always gets beer goggles when she drinks and then brings home some real losers. There's a hot girl over by the bar? Dude, your beer goggles are definitely an issue here. You know, we just weren't that attracted to each other once the beer goggles were off.
goggle at (someone or something)
To stare at someone or something in surprise with the eyes open very wide. I have some great pictures of the kids goggling at the giraffes at the zoo. It probably wasn't the best reaction, but I was so shocked that I could only goggle at Mary when she told me she was pregnant. We goggled at the firemen as they rushed past us into the burning building.

goggle-eyed

2. slang Drunk. Do you remember last night at the bar at all? You were really goggle-eyed! I'm past the point in my life where I want to spend every weekend at a bar getting goggle-eyed. I must have been goggle-eyed if I got up and did karaoke at the bar last night!

Television, either referring to the object or the medium. Please don't just sit around and loaf in front of the goggle-box all day. The goggle-box is definitely making us all stupider.

to stare at someone or something with bulging eyes. Don't stand there goggling at me! The child stood there and goggled at the newborn lamb.
