John Morgan is a Producer, Writer, Director, and Actor for film, television, commercials, and music videos, living in Brooklyn, New York. He is perhaps best known for his work as a Non-Union Actor, having appeared on FX’s Five-Part Docuseries ‘A Wilderness Of Error’, the Season 2 Premiere of ‘Dead of Winter’ and others. He most recently starred as Celestine Palmetto in Joseph Junod’s award-winning short film ‘Chatsworth’. John Morgan is still pursuing acting opportunities as while collaborating with other independent filmmakers on upcoming projects as producer.

John completed post-production on a horror-comedy short titled, ‘The Pennsylvania Leaf Blower Massacre’, which will begin its festival run next year. He’s currently in pre-production on a short horror project with co-writer, Jonathan Forst, titled ‘The Caretaker’, set to start shooting in 2025.



John grew up in Bushwick, Brooklyn, on a diet of classic Hollywood, arthouse, international, independent, and exploitation pictures. With a passion for the moving image, he stubbornly and resourcefully produced short horror films with friends throughout high school while interning at local production companies. After being accepted to SUNY Purchase College’s Conservatory of Film, John seized every opportunity to make films, big and small. He directed 15 shorts and produced 3 others within four years, received his BFA in Film Directing with honors in 2013. Since then, John has continued to crew on more than 200 productions in the New York area as a non-union freelance production expert.

As a director, John’s most noteworthy shorts are The CageEvil Film (Official Selection - Bushwick Film Festival, 2009), Apache, and Killer’s Kiss (Official Selection, Kubrick et le Web).

In his time at SUNY Purchase, John Morgan produced 3 student shorts, most noteworthy is Daniel Kharlak’s Stolen Memorieswhich won 2nd Place at SUNYWide Film Festival in 2012. After graduating college, John had the pleasure of directing a short with Director of Photography, Felipé Perez-Burchard in 2013 while ACing the feature film ’Mi America’. The following year, John produced an adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s ’The Fox, The Forest, as well as trying a hand at directing a web series with M.A. Gonzalez and Tom Watts’ ’Down and Out, which ran two seasons.

In August of 2016, John Morgan combined forces with Michael Ray to direct and produce a spec music video for Ledinsky’s anthem, “DonaldTrumpMakesMeWannaSmokeCrack”. It was rejected, but has gathered viral attention, accruing over 50,000 views since its initial upload.

In October of 2017, John Morgan, Michael Ray, and Anthony Del Grosso came together to form Cinema Obscura on YouTube; a channel dedicated to reviewing strange and obscure films. The channel has closed its doors as of 2021, but you can still find all of their hilarious antics online.
