This is what a philosopher looks like.

I’m Meg Wallace, assistant professor at the University of Kentucky. I like to think about parts and wholes, ordinary objects, persistence, possible worlds, and metaphysics in general. Off hours, I monkey around on aerial silks or fabrics (pictured) or anything high flying in the circus gym. I also run and do yoga (but only the  metaphysically responsible kind). I take my dog for long, manic, loud walks in the park, obey my cat, and dork out with my husband. I don’t eat anything that was, is, or will be cute.

My name is Chief Warrant Officer John Baldari (ret.) and I am an ABD at the University of Leeds Interdisciplinary Ethics Applied Centre for Excellence. I am a retired military officer with 21 years of experience teaching military ethics and mental resiliency to soldiers and candidates. I am an ethicist with research focused on virtue theory, military applied ethics, moral psychology, and philosophy of mind (identity). This is a photograph taken of me when I graduated Candidate School. It represents a dramatic turning point in my life when the picture I had of the world reshaped through philosophy. Philosophy is not lost in the ivory tower, it matters to all people every day, even those that choose to live and die by the sword.

Hiya there fellow philosophers! My name’s Tanvir Deol, and I’m a 2nd year student in Philosophy, Logic, & Scientific Method @ the London School of Economics & Political Science.

I embrace uncertainty, happily welcome confusion, and let my curiosity take me wherever it fancies.

The debate on religion, Hume’s Problem of Induction, and philosophy of the mind, is my sorta thaaang.

Here I’m admiring this lone ape. This is in a museum, so sadly, he’s not real. Though if he was, I have no doubt he’d love to sit down for a cup of tea and talk a little Karl Popper and falsification. Hmmmm…I wonder what his response to Hume would be?

My name is Saurabh Bhattacharya and I am a PhD student at the University of Sydney. My interest areas are Kantian ethics and political philosophy. When I am not poring over books and diverse screens, I teach English literature at a local high school. I also run an informal Philosophy Club at this school every Friday - the students absolutely love it!

In this snapshot, you see me losing a key point of argument to more natural philosophers than I.

When not doing philosophy, I enjoy wrenching on my classic car, listening to Rockabilly, and other car-related activities. My car is not shown on the picture, though. What is shown is one example from my ever-growing collection of geek shirts.
