statistical leader
leader of a sports tournament in one of statistical qualities (points, assists, rebounds etc.). Don't use for overall winner. Use a qualifier to link to the item about the quality.

• If this suits football specialist, ok for me. Maybe an item for "top scorer" could work better as qualifier value. But then P794 (P794) might be the better qualifier.

Renamed

I have just renamed this to 'best performer' in order to widen its scope a little bit. The move will help us have claims such as P3279 → Renaud Lavillenie (Q1742) on men's pole vault world record (Q1136293). So far it was impossible to add claims about record setters anywhere. I'm not sure if it doesn't actually limit the scope .. what prevents you from using "statistical leader"?

P518 as valid qualifier

To avoid constraint, I added applies to part, aspect, or form (P518) as a valid qualifier to indicate in which scope (within the scope of the item) it is related to. Usually this property is used in championship or match items and doesn't need to specify it. However, I used for a top scorer in a club season and need to specify the league -among the different leagues the club played these season- belongs the result.
