Flashback Friday

Today it is this week in 2011...

Iza got dinner on the deck!  She just refused to come in.

Ayla and Marley discussed this with some amazement!

But Iza had a bird out there (it was already dead)...

And she intended to enjoy it all by herself.

So she didn't want the door opened enough for the others to get out!

She had a thoroughly good time.

Womancat Wensday

BINQ:   I watched TV.  There were kitties!

And some were like none I had ever seen before.

Sometimes the camera doesnt show the TV very well.  TBT thinks it was trying to focus on me, and I can be tricky for it.

But he doesnt catch me watchin the TV often, so we will use them.

Mancat Monday

TAZ:  I was just enjoying The Lap.

Binq was nearby.  I dont mind that at all.

She doesnt get on it.  Lori was out.  Marley was sleeping...

 So it was all mine!

Answers To Comments

Once again, We and TBT are replying to questions and comments...

1.  We mentioned that TBT had bought some tiny pillows to attach one to the aquarium hood for Lori to rest her head on.  Right now, it is a folded dishtowel held in place by a brick.  Memories Of Eric And Flynn suggested "Maybe self adhesive velcro?"

Well TBT checked Amazon for that stuff.  He found 30Ft x 1 Inch Hook and Loop Rolls with Adhesive, Double Rolls (1 hook, 1 loop) of Heavy Duty Self Adhesive Tape for like only $8.  Its in our cart.

2.  We got many comments about sharing and not sharing The Lap.  Suggestions were "taking turns", "Marley is senior so has rights", "first come first served", and "scheduling times", hogging The Lap", etc.  We are not good at scheduling or taking turns at much of anything.  Mostly it is "Marley is big" and while he doesnt demand much, he does get what he demands.  And TBT tends toward "first come first served".

3.  We also posted about "refreshing old toys with Nip".  15&Meowing, The Florida Furkids, and Memories Of Eric And Flynn all suggested "marinating" toys in a big jar of Nip.  So TBT bought a large jar of Nip, chose some toys and put them in a different jar and dumped some Nip over them (shaking the toy/nip jar well) and marked the calendar for 2 weeks from now.

He still intends to re-stuff the cigar and banana directly with Nip just to fill them up (they are kinna flat these days).  They have stitching at one end and he can cut those to refill them.  And he has fabric cement to attach small length of velcro (see item 1) to reclose them for future.  Or he can just do some simple sewing.

But "marinating and velcro" are great suggestions!

4.  TBT is grateful that other cats and Beins understand that "fur is everywhere".  We don't have "dust-bunnies" here so much as we have "fur clumps".  Somehow, all the loose furs in our house find each other and collect together in "food bowl-sized clumps".  How that happens, neither We nor TBT understand.  But he tells us that is how planets form.

BTW, he doesnt vacuum them up; he sweeps.  The floor-sweepings of our furs go into the TBTs compost bin.  So we are part of his garden.  Isn't that cool?

5.  Boxes-  Good boxes are hard to find.  Megan commented "You simply can't beat a good box Taz".  Well TBT found 2 purrfect ones!  TBT order some tomato plants from Amazon.  They arrived in great condition, but we care more about the 2 boxes.

They were 12'x12"x12".  And the sturdiest ones he has ever seen!  TBT folded the top flaps into the box (adding some glue to hold them flat).  When he put one on the living room floor the next day, Taz was in it immediately.  The other box was in the kitchen, and Lori was in that one shortly after.  TBT hasnt processed those pics yet...

The boxes are perfect size and height to sit in (looking around) and all of us but Marley can curl up in them.  Those 2 boxes are going to be around a long time!  It's OK, Marley has his hammick (which we leave to him).  And there is one larger box in case he wants to sit in one.

And of course, there must be a picture of Us...

Flashback Friday

Well, last week's post was somewhat recent, so lets go back to this week in 2010...

Iza liked to hide behind things, trying to ambush an Evil Skwerl.

Ayla liked to get behind things to watch the others safely.

And anyplace that got her up was good.

She was a constant lapcat.

Iza and Marley always liked napping together.

Thankful Thursday

Today, I am thankful for Feliway.   With most cats in the past, I never needed it.  Mischief and Jeremy, Skeeter and LC, LC and Ayla were fine without it.

But Ayla and Iza sometimes didn't get along well, so I tried it.  I've been using it ever since.  It seems to help.  I write the 30-day expiration date on the bottle, but I don't always remember to check it.

I can tell when the bottle is empty though.  Things get a bit hissier/whappier.  Laz had problems Feliway couldn't solve, But Lori seems to benefit from it.  She and Taz had "introduction issues" for a year, and while they have become more acceptant to each other, I think the Feliway helped/helps that.

From daily brief fights, they have gone to at least tolerating each other.  Lori no longer whaps Taz and Binq everytime they walk past her, for example.  Sure, it may have just been a matter of time and constant presence, but when the bottle is empty, she starts tapping flanks and heads again.

So hurray for pheromones!

Womancat Wensday

TBT:  I just can't seem to get enough pics of Lori napping on the aquarium hood!  She alway looks so sweet and innocent there.

She loves the folded dishtowel as a pillow.

But the brick that holds it in place is annoying.  It prevents me from lifting the lid to feed the fish.  And since Lori is there a lot, I can't do that while she is there (the dishtowel ends up in the water).

So I went searching for "tiny pillows".  I tried beanbags, dollhouse pillows, and they were either too large or too small.  I finally found the right size with "jewelry pillows" (through an Amazon suggestion link).  I had no idea there were such things!  Or even why.

6pc Velvet Small Bracelet/Watch Pillow Jewelry Displays (White)

They are about 3"x2".  I sure didn't need 6 of them, but maybe The Mews will appreciate the others on cat tree platforms.  I figured I could attach a pillow on the aquarium hood with double-stick tape, but it didn't hold to the fabric.  The tape is too weak.  So I'm going to try some folded-over duct tape.  If that works and Lori likes it, I'll post a pic on a future post.

Twofur Tuesday

TBT:  Lori and Marley were sharing The Lap.  But it was awkward.  Marley is large and Lori doesn't like to share.

So she left.  Marley doesn't mind her resting up against him, but she is rather possessive of her places.  Like The Lap and the bed.

Mancat Monday

TAZ:  I need a new nip cigar!  This one is so old there is no smell left.

It is rather kickable and soft, so there is still something good about it.

But Nip would be nice.

Actally, we have a number of faded-Nip toys.  TBT doesnt want to go hunt so many new ones.  He thinks he will cut them open, restuff them, and sew them back up.  Yeah, right!   But he did come home with a large jar of Nip recently, so maybe he actually will.  He can actually do simple sewing.  He says the next rainy day...

Easy Like Sunday

Sometimes TBT just tosses a handful of kibble across the kitchen floor.

He always rattles the kibble jar, so that we all know ta come running in.

He doesn't really have to though.  Usally, he cant even unscrew the jar without us all hearing it.  But sometimes Marley is in deep sleep and doesn't hear that.  So he rattles the jar.  That wakes Marley up!

There is seldom a kibble left unfound!

BTW, you see that mat behind Binq in the last pic?  It is always covered with fur.  Us 3 younger cats spend a lot of time on it while TBT prepares his own meals.   He would have to vacuum or shake it out on the deck every day to keep it barely clean.

But TBT gave up worrying about fur decades ago and just lives with it.  Its everywhere no matter what he does.  Mats, clothes, under furniture, on the stairs, etc.

Caturday Saturday

TAZ:    Who doesnt love a good box?

Marley and I spent some time just sitting around together.

Marley can sit in the box when I'M done with it.

But I wont make him wait too long.  After all, we're friends...
