โthatโs enough. let him go.โ her voice ripples through the crowd of mercenaries, their bony, leather-clad silhouettes moving aside as she walks. deliberately, with the confident diligence of whom knows themself to be in charge. a complacency carlos knows all too well, too. โare you the leader?โ he addresses her, trying to enunciate as loud and stern as he can with the tip of a blade pressed to his chin. itโs rhetorical, really. he knows power, knows its quiet waves. for a fraction of a second, though, her smug demeanor is replaced by the purest surprise, flickering on her face when she meets his eye. then itโs gone. โprince carlos. your highness,โ she addresses him, equal parts amused and disdainful, clearly bearing no reverence for the honorific. โyouโre a long way from your palace.โ she sees him for what he is, for what she saw all those years ago on her only trip to the capitalโa child in fine silks smiling at the crowds from a gold and red carriage, and those big brown eyes that have never had to beg for food. or for his life. โan usurper sits on my throne,โ he speaks. at his words, the guard dog presses his blade harder against the fallen heirโs neck, but carlos only steels himself, facing the mercenary queen dead in the eye. she knows this, of courseโrumors of a coup and a crown prince on the run are worth a kingโs ransom. โI came to you to take my kingdom back. your manpowerโฆ in exchange for my riches.โ murmurs rise from the crowd, some outraged, others perplexed, but without so much as a gesture she has the assembly quiet as soon as she speaks. โa bold offer.โ โI am a bold man.โ she stares him down a moment longer, reading the very fires of grit in his soul. the candid face of a man who still believes thereโs such a thing as a noble death. โspeak, your highness. Iโm listening.โ
send me a driver + a concept and iโll give you a moodboard + drabblenot taking any more of these!
evangelicals being like "god made men to do This and be like This and women to do That and be like That that's just how it is" and it's just a picture of a white man and woman following traditional gender norms makes me so insane like you boring fascist fucks. god made 2 million species of beetles. god made whales, ducks, humans, and 1500 other species capable of same sex behavior. god made fish and amphibians that change sexes. god made more than 30 different intersex variations in human beings. god, in his infinite curiosity. wake up!!! fuck!!
"god wants women to have perfect no-makeup makeup looks and stay at home not talking back and upholding capitalism" god??? that guy who made lizards that shoot blood out of their eyes?? that guy who made salmon do whatever the fuck that is?? are you fucking crazy???
not to ramble but someone mentioned the idea of bodyguard!carlos and i can’t get it out of my head…
there’s just something about coming from money and your father finally deciding its time to hire a personal bodyguard for you. and of course you’re immediately opposed to the idea—you haven’t had any issues without one, and the places you go to usually have decent security! after all, the last thing you need is to have some rando keeping you company everywhere you go.
in comes carlos. and, sure, normally you would’ve paid more attention to the fact that he’s objectively—objectively— handsome. but as your father is introducing you to your bodyguard-to-be, carlos isn’t even bothering to make eye contact with you. instead, he’s simply looking at your father, hanging onto his every word. it’s then when you realize that no, this is not going to work.
Something like this would be so colossally helpful. I'm sick and tired of trying to research specific clothing from any given culture and being met with either racist stereotypical costumes worn by yt people or ai generated garbage nonsense, and trying to be hyper specific with searches yields fuck all. Like I generally just cannot trust the legitimacy of most search results at this point. It's extremely frustrating. If there are good resources for this then they're buried deep under all the other bullshit, and idk where to start looking.

May I present to you, nationalclothing.org?
It doesn't have everything, but it's still my first source when researching traditional clothing from other cultures.
There's also this resource on historical fashion: Claire’s Historical Fashion Reference & Resources
another addition as far as physical media goes there is the encyclopedia of national dress (that i still need to buy myself bc this kind of thing is super important to my sort of fantasy designing) but yes i do agree i wish there was EVEN MORE documentation on this
