Private Ernest Moody
With ANZAC Day coming up I thought it would be appropriate to share a few stories from those who have fought in our wars. From the Northern Advocate, 20th November 1916: Private Ernest Moody of Whangarei who was in Carterton on weekend leave from Featherston Camp, passed away suddenly soon after dinner. He said that he did not feel well, collapsed immediately and died within an hour. The medical man called in certified to haemorraging of the brain and word to the effect had been received by Private Moody's relatives in Whangarei. He was the youngest son of T.P. Moody, a pioneer of the coal industry in the Bay of Islands and Hikurangi. Private Moody joined the staff at the Whangarei branch of Bank of New Zealand as a youth about 21 years ago and after several years was drafted to other branches including Auckland, Timaru, Christchurch and Inglewood. Lest we forget. Join us on Facebook at the Northland Heritage Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1109709272401824/
