Tonight I'm finishing the final round of novas for my #clashanovatulanova ...💕💚🤓 I managed a bit of prep for these in the evenings this week, but there are still 108 pieces left to join, let alone adding them to the main piece,so, as I feared, this round is a bit of a slog and it's my least favourite stage of assembly so far; all those diamonds have to fit perfectly between the triangles (pic 2); I've worked out that folding them in half to find the midpoint really does help a lot. And ... I'm inspired to push through because I know how fab they're going to look! When I received my #tulapinkcuriouser fabric from Jade at @lovelyjubblyfabrics she added a little gift of a #tulapink acrylic Cheshire Cat fob. In my post I said how I wanted to try using it as a stencil on sunography fabric (pic 2) to make a #cyanotype So,here it is! I'm really pleased with how it came out, but I rinsed it with hot water because I wasn't paying attention, so I think I can do a better one with a longer exposure in the sun and cold water! This Bank Holiday I finished piecing the final 5 diamond star units to add to the main section of my #clashanovatulanova 💕💚💕 When that's done it's on to the home straight with the 10 Mustang novas (which are all basted but not yet pieced yet). #HappyMail again! Ever since I splurged on some bed linen a few years ago in a sale I've been a fan of @clarissahulse 's beautiful foliage inspired work. I've been (unsuccessfully) stalking her website for ages to be quick enough when she releases scrap bags, but last week I was lucky lucky lucky! (Unsurprisingly, it turns out the best way to make this happen is to subscribe and actually read and open the emails!) There's a beautiful selection of silk and upholstery weight scraps (pics 2&3) which I have some back-of-the-mind plans for. I also got a larger panel piece (pic 2) which is destined for a cushion. I haven't done ANY hand sewing on my #clashanovatulanova this week 🥺 as my left wrist was giving me gyp from the old #eppdeathgrip (despite using #sewtites). Today I'm trying @tulapink 's #epp sewing method to cut down on wrist rotation and although not at all natural or easy for me to switcheroo the muscle memory of back to front to front to back, I'm happy to report she's absolutely bloomin right! I still have a ton of bits to piece, but tonight I'm just piecing onto the main section as I complete them, for variety. (Barely)Preserved lemons! Seriously good result in 40 mins rather than umpteen weeks: 1 cup (250ml) water + 1 tbsp proper sea salt (#maldonsalt VG for this) per quartered (unwaxed) lemon. Bring water and salt to boil, add lemons, simmer 35ish mins or until 1/2 liquid reduced and rind translucent. Bottle. Ta-da! Don't be fooled...
