I admit the only reason I finally decide to tackle this was because the film was coming out. The last time I read a Leo Tolstoy book (War & Peace), though it left an impression on me, took me ages to finish (not helped by the timeline set by my tutor). This was no different - completed just under two months. I have mixed feelings about this book, some parts were great, some dragged on but there was so much I needed to think about and digest before I could continue.
