Road to the Unknown, Entry 6

3 cards: 5 hearts, 2 spades, 5 spades. You encounter a strange person A strange object crashes to the ground from the sky You feel a vibration in the air A peculiar person appeared today.  I was wandering around, trying to find some trace of humanity (but then, what else is there to do in this place?), when this…person appeared.  It’s going to sound strange, but in appearance, they…lacked definition.  It was like the difference between a photograph of a person and a drawing of a person.   They were wearing skin-tight clothing, except for the way their trousers were tucked into their boots, and they were armed to the teeth with drawings of guns.  They pointed the guns at me, but when I just stepped back and put my hands up, they turned away and continued down the street. Then, just as they got to the intersection at the end of the street, an enormous black weight appeared out of nowhere and dropped on top of them, squashing them. And this is the thing...

Road to the Unknown, Entry 5

3 cards: King diamonds, 4 clubs, 10 clubs. you find trash You look for wild animals you do nothing  NB: this contradicts the previous two prompts, so I am discarding it. I’m not hungry.  I’m not thirsty, either.  Like so many other things here, this doesn’t make sense.  I’ve been here for days, if the day/night cycle is to be believed, and I haven’t eaten or drunk a thing.  The very thought of eating and drinking makes me feel a little queasy.  Which is just as well, since there isn’t anything to eat or drink here.  There are no kitchens.  No sinks.  No refrigerators.  No food.  No water.  Nohing.  It also occurred to me that it’s awfully quiet here.  At home, there’s always noise.  There is the sound of the breeze rustling the trees - but there’s no breeze.  There are insects from time to time.  But I haven’t seen or heard any.  There are birds.  But I haven’t seen or heard any of them...

Road to the Unknown, Entry 4

3 Cards:  Queen diamonds, Queen hearts, 8 diamonds. You find an old book you encounter A something strange You find old documents about Aliens Okay, so I didn’t actually know that the hooded figures had killed the witch.  But that ceremony looked as though it had been a sacrifice.  Something to appease something or other. But what? I wandered into yet another of the dilapidated houses.  Like the others, it showed no sign of having people living in it.  (Goodness knows where the hooded figures lived.  I had tried following one of them after the sacrifice, but they had rounded a corner a couple of blocks away from the church and had vanished.  I had tried to follow, but it was clear that I was unable to go where they had gone.  It was like they had wandered into another plane of existence or something .  It was really bizarre.) There was a bookshelf in this one, with books on it.  The books were as ancient as the houses were.  ...

Road to the Unknown, Entry 3

4 cards: 7 spades, Queen spades, 10 spades, King clubs. You see a angel You see someone dragging something you see a hole in the ground you start to daydream about aliens. I saw somebody else a little while ago.  I only saw them at a distance - they were wearing a long, hooded robe, and they were dragging something.  I followed the person, taking care not to catch up.  The thing that the person was dragging looked uncannily like the witch who had run away from me when I first arrived here. The person dragging the witch’s body headed towards the suburb’s church.  There were more hooded robed figures there, waiting for the person.  They were gathered around a large hole in the ground.  They stood there, motionless and voiceless, waiting.   As I watched, the person dragged the body up to the hole in the ground.  As the person approached, the rest of the congregation began to drone.  A movement above the congregation caught my eye, an...

Road to the Unknown, Entry 2

4 cards: 8 Spades, 8 hearts, King spades, 3 spades. You here A scream You encounter A shadow person you See a shooting star You see odd smoke rising from the ground I poked around in one of the houses after the witch fled - I felt like crap and needed more rest.  So I took shelter, and slept.  I don't have my phone, or wallet.  There's not even anything in my pockets.  And someone is going to pay for that. At any rate, I feel better now.  I even managed to find this notebook, and something to write with.  That's good. I didn’t wake up in my bed at home, though.  That’s bad.   Four things happened today, very quickly.  Somebody screamed.  There was a person’s shadow, with no person attached.  There was a shooting star.  And there was the smoke. No, wait.  That’s not the order they happened in.  First there was the smoke.  It came seeping out of the ground, in the middle of the suburb’s oval.  Ther...

Road to the Unknown, Entry 1.

RPG: Road to the Unknown. Use a D6 die to see how your story begins: 2. You whent to a party the night before and got really drunk. you wake up in the middle of a unknown road. 1 card: 9 Hearts.  I encounter a witch.  She runs away. The sun is shining brightly.  Too brightly.  My head feels like it is about to explode, and my stomach feels like somebody dropped a cannon ball into it.  I wish I had vomited it all up last night - it wouldn’t have been pretty, but at least I wouldn’t feel as crappy as I do now. The party was a mistake.  I had known that before I went, but not attending wasn’t an option.  It was my employer’s 50th anniversary, after all.  Everybody was there - even that small posse of creeps from Stores.   The Creeps.  They probably spiked everybodys’ drinks.  That’s probably why I got so drunk.  And why I feel so bad.  The number of drinks I had aren’t normally enough to get me that drunk.  And alco...

The First Soap - Episode 1

What day is it?  Monday. It is early evening, and Serena is heading back to her apartment after having finished work for the day.   Is she tired?  Yes and. She is exhausted.  She had to be completely on the ball, right from the beginning to the end.  Her half hour lunch break was something she usually took at her desk, but her lunch remained uneaten.  She hadn’t been able to steal even a moment to take a bite. She knows that food would help - a bit - but she doesn’t know that she has even enough energy to do anything about it. Is she going to make it back to her apartment unmolested?  Yes and. She has three blocks to walk from the bus stop to her apartment block. Does she notice the hawker?  Less than 12 to succeed.  19.  Fail. She blinks in surprise when the hawker with the tray of samples gets in her way.  She can’t quite tell what the samples are, but that doesn’t matter.  The sympathetic hawker gives her a couple, and ...
