Back in the Game!

Once again I have been away from my blog for way too long.  I get caught up in a lot of other things rather than posting pics of starts and finishes. These last couple of months have gone by way too fast. I have received a couple of messages from some followers making sure I was okay and looking forward to an update. I do have a few finishes and will spread these out over the next couple of weeks. First up is one that had been in the WIP pile for a long time -- Not For Us Alone from Amy Mitten.  Amy taught this piece at the Tudor Rose Sampler Guild back in the early 2000's (I cannot remember the date/year that I took the class). A friend of mine took the class with me and she had finished hers a long time ago. She recently moved and hung the sampler in her dining room.  So needless to say every time I go over to her house it was taunting me to get mine finished.  So here is my completed Not For Us Alone. My How Time Flies!

I'm Back.... Just a quick post to show a couple of finishes.  First up is Heavenly Paradise from C Street Sampler Works and Matilda Driver from The Heart's Content. These were both completed in Mid 2013 but never got around to posting pictures. Both of these ares stitched on 32-ct linen using the recommended threads. I started the Matilda Driver a long time ago.  It is suppose to be finished over 1 but I stitched mine over two. Next up is my finish of Mary's Sampler II from Plum Street Samplers.   This was stitched on a scrap piece of 35-ct linen using the recommended threads. Now to finish it into a small cushion for Christmas 2014. My new obsession is the 52/60-ct Lakeside Uneven weave linen and Gloriana Tudor Silks.  This is the second piece that I have stitched using this linen and silk.  Here is my version of The Crown Sampler from Plum Street Samplers. I personalized this on the bottom with the month completed, my initials, and year. ...

It's Been A Long Time!

I can't believe that it has been nearly two months since my last post. But thanks for your patience with me. I have been spending most of my down time just relaxing with needle, linen, and threads - lots of thread,  I have two finishes to show you. First up is 1787 Ellennor Whitehouse Sampler from the Fall 2013 Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly.  When I was in Arizona in August to attend the Attic's Summer School I was able to see the original which is in the collection of Vickie LoPiccolo Jennett. Jean and Vickie did a conversion to the Tudor Silks so that we could work this on the 50-ct linen (actually 52 threads wide by 60 threads high per inch).  This was my first time working on the 50-ct linen with the Tudor silks and I really liked it. 1787 Ellennor Whitehouse Sampler / Fall 2013 Sampler & Antique Needlework Quarterly Stitched on 50 count Lakeside Meadow Rue using Gloriana Tudor Silks Another sampler that I picked up on my tr...

Frances Pool and a Gift for a Friend

Just a quick post to show you two recent finishes. The first is Frances Pool 1832 by With Thy Needle and Thread.   Frances Pool 1832 by With Thy Needle and Thread/Country Stitches Worked on 36-ct R&R Linen using recommended Gentle Arts and Weeks Dye Works threads. The second one is a gift for a friend who lost there son in October 2011. Adam was a big fan of Bob Dylan's poetry and music.  So when I saw this small sampler I knew right away that I needed to stitch it in memory of Adam. So here are a couple of pictures before I take it to the framer. Stars & Diamonds by Heartstring Samplery Worked on 40-ct Lakeside Lentil using recommended Gentle Arts Sampler Threads Happy Stitchin... Robert

A Flamestitch Finished!

I put the final stitches in A Flamestitch Sampler by Scarlet Letter last night.  This one was a very fun stitch.  I really like how the bottom section turned out even if it does look a little bottom heavy. Worked on 40-ct Lakeside Pear using the recommended DMC Now to get back to work on AEDEGNES Sampler of 1746 also by Scarlet Letter. Happy Stitching....Robert

Anniversaries of the Heart Finish and A Flamestitch!

As promised in my previous post, here is a brief update on some other stitching progress. During April and the first part of May I worked on finishing up my Anniversaries of the Heart by Blackbird Designs. This has been a work in progress for a long time so I was glad to get it finished. Anniversaries of the Heart by Blackbird Designs Worked on 40-ct Lakeside Reindeer using Gentle Arts, Weeks Dye, and Crescent Colours Started in April 2010 and finished in May 2013 The hardest part was deciding on the personalized blocks for the family members that I want to include on the sampler.  They include by father-in-law, grandparents, great grandparents, my mother, father, wife, son and daughter. I inserted a saying that is special to me and my family in the the alphabet block at the top of the sampler.  "As for me and my house will serve the Lord" - Joshua 24:15 And changed the bottom of the November block by adding a bird from another Blackbird chart....

Late So Soon - May Finishes!

I cannot believe it has been nearly 3 months since I last posted on my blog. I have just been a little bit MIA from the blogosphere. I found the following on a blog I follow and thought it was appropriate. How did it get so late so soon? It's night before it's afternoon. December is here before it's  June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon? - Dr. Seuss I have been spending most of my free time doing other things besides stitching.  The weather here in Texas has been hot but I have really been enjoying it by spending a lot of time outside with family and friends. Since my last post in April, I have started and finished a couple of things. I will break the post up into two or more posts for May, June and July. So here it goes for May. After working on large projects I decided I needed a little bit of a change.  So I went through the stash and found a couple of small samplers that I could work on. The first one is J. ...
