✨ a collective space of my musings, travels, beauty, lifestyle and music✨
Damn, has it been that long since my last post!?
…………. wowza
Makes me laugh when I think of how much my life has changed after that UK trip (post below). But anyway, that reminiscent-sentimental-metamorphosis post shall be written for another day, today is to be filled with vibrant updates cause I miss this! Blogging I mean. I’m the kind of person who struggles conveying what I feel through words in real life, like when I’m speaking to another person face-to-face I sometimes get tongue-twisted or my brain jams so writing has always been that outlet for me to properly curate my thoughts and message. Plus it’s always nice to look back at your own collective space of random musings… orrr you just cringe painfully when you look back at the embarrassing emo posts you put out on the internet hahahaha.
Speaking of writing, I’ve been a songwriter under Replay for about a year now and what a journey it’s been. Learnt so much about the formula of pop writing and more about our music industry. It’s refreshing and fascinating to be able to spectate how things unfold from this side of the spectrum, many things I was oblivious to before. To be honest, it hasn’t been all peachy too - some days my ideas seem redundant, some days the hours feel extra long, and some days I question myself if this is all really worth my time. but I know these thoughts are just passing self-sabotaging thoughts, and that I’m meant to do this. I always tell myself - the bad days make the good days feel even greater, so embrace it all. I’m also blessed that I write with such an amazing team - Audi, Shazee, Kim - their guidance, kindness, talent, and hardwork is awe-inspiring. We join sessions with other writers as well and from there I get to see how other people get their melody, rhythm, and writing ideas. The studio is now my second home.
I wrote and sang for a lot of demos, mostly for export, and there was a phase where Fuse was in close contact with people in the kpop industry and as much as I tried to keep my hopes grounded on earth, I can’t deny I was ecstatic. How cool is that, the 15-year-old-kpop-crazed me went balls to the wall excited. We have yet to land a song as competition is crazy high and let’s be real, Koreans have this other-worldly touch with music, but that is what makes this so exhilarating. I like a challenge ;)
The universe is kind. I may not be IN the kpop world as I had wished but I am now the TV host of a national kpop show and I get to write music for artists and songs that are influenced by kpop music. Ugh, the power of the mind. What a beautiful thing. I also just received news that KBUZZ is confirmed for another season so season 11, here we come! How fitting that the new season will begin on a new year.
Also, my best friend Christine is back for good from London so that’s been a major bonus. She just graduated and is finding her foot back here so we’re still figuring that out together. She’s truly my soulmate and sometimes I’m certain she’s an angel on earth. We’ll be working closely on upcoming vlogs, shoots and music so stay tuned for that.
So last Wednesday I brought her and YS to go check out MUFE’s holiday launch at pavilion. I am a sucker for christmas decor so this set up, I was drooling. Like, I want this to be in my room.
and then, we have the dessert table.
of course, this caught my full attention.
Thanks MUFE for the invite! It was a short and sweet visit, Christine did a cute snippet of what happened so you can check the video HERE.
We purposely matched our outfits to get that twinning vibe cause I always tell her “you’re the yin to my yang”
Afterwards we grabbed coffee, then I left to go back to the studio to meet Charis! She is such an amazing person and her bubbly energy is contagious. A true hustler, beautiful on the inside and on the outside. Her second single Could This Be Love (Mungkinkah Ini Cinta) is the first malay song I wrote and this is the first song officially released with me credited as a songwriter. Yes, you can imagine how excited I was and yes, you can also imagine the amount of repeats I have spammed. Hey, more plays equals to more money to me right? Hahaha so go spam it pls ah tengkiu.
You can find the music video here and the spotify track here.
Other than that, there is my female trio - TIGA SOUL.
Man, where do I even begin?
I’m proud of all the achievements we’ve reached so far. It may seem small to you, but we know what goes behind the scenes, and for our consequences, the milestones we’ve reached is amazing. At the moment we’re working on getting our numbers higher so we can get more sponsors for our upcoming music video. If you’re working for a brand and you like our music and would like to help, please drop an email to amaramirasachie@gmail.com!
In between we work on our youtube covers, perform for corporate events, public shows, and continue working on our original music. Of course the dream is to have an album. Ah, how awesome that would be! and I know I’m going to make it happen. And if you’re wondering, like any other group, of course there are disagreements, conflicts and drama. What do you expect, you put three strong-headed female hustlers together? But we always find the middle ground to make everyone happy cause at the end of the day, it is what’s best for the group. THAT is the most important. To detach from personal feelings and make professional decisions, even if you don’t like it. So if you’re in a group or a band, remember that. It is so important to stay focused on your end goal.
So our schedule consists of meetings, rehearsals, recordings and photoshoots. All done on our own (budget, management, resources) and I’m in charge of the marketing and branding side of the team. You can imagine the amount of anxiety I’ve had from this cause one - social media IS the future of business and two - I am an introverted hermit. The PR side has definitely pushed me out of my shell and the marketing side has been a fun and fulfilling creative satisfaction. Lady boss in the making yo, whupwhup.
We’ve got a dope track dropping just a little bit before Christmas too and I know our fans are gonna love it. Something a little more special than a cover… ;)
We got Jee on board again cause he’s such a musical genius. If you missed our collaboration for halloween, you’re missing out on some major eargasm. He arranged, recorded and mixed the track so click HERE to check it out. Our favourite cover thus far.
As for show updates, TIGA SOUL will be performing at S-19 by MIXX on the 25th of November so melaka peeps, we can’t wait to see you! Make sure to block that date and come join us alright?
Okay honestly I have tons more to update but I don’t want to waste it all on just ONE post so I’ll keep the rest for others hahaha. Time for yoga with grandma, VO work, rehearse two jingle songs then I’m off to an event.
Talk soon! xx
One of the must-do-in-Edinburgh traditions that YS and I have set for ourselves is to rent a cheap car and take a road trip up to Glencoe - the highlands of Scotland. Don’t be mistaken though, it’s not the destination that we’re willing to throw four - six hours traveling for from Henderson Row, it is the jaw-dropping journey that we have our eyes set on.
Just like the spectacular naturesque and mountainscape scenes we see in ads or movies, this was exactly the same, but in real time.
Y’all know I love my lush greenery landscapes so this was an opportunity that could not be missed!
An hour into the journey we’ll see River Coe next to the highway so that automatically adds itself into the ‘beauty of Scotland that seems other-worldly’ list. Then as time passes we’ll drive pass small towns, some bnbs, and local farms. The halfway point will be marked once we see the infamous railroad bridge that is seen in maaany Harry Potter films. *cues fangirl scream* Oh, apparently James Bond’s Skyfall was shot there as well!? Now that will add onto the ‘why-is-scotland-so-cool’ list.
Although this round our trip was accompanied by the endless UK drizzle, it didn’t stop us from going out and taking photos with the stunning view.
One day YS and I wanna go caravanning and camping here! THEN we’ll have the full outdoor experience.
The wind here makes such a good photoshoot compliment hahaha.
Prior to this shot I was running around happily, although I was drenched and freezing to death. Priorities done right, peeps.
It was gloomy and wet, yet the thick fog and rain makes moody seem so cool here.
#moodyvibes
My favorite shots of this place. Just look at that view. I look like I was photoshopped into a stock photo lol
You know what was crazy though? There were cyclist cycling along in the rain and the cold here. WHAT DO Y’ALL EAT? Teach me your ways, senpai.
Legit my feels whenever I’m surrounded by nature.
Oh and if you were wondering, our meals for this day trip was cheap food we found in a nearby Tesco! The usual - sandwiches, wraps, fruits, snacks. The restaurants and cafes around Glencoe carried quite a hefty price for us cheapskates so we didn’t allocate any budget for that.
That’s all for the Glencoe series! Up next - Harry Potter tour in London. Yiiiiiip!
Random collected memories of my favorite place on earth.
Both times I left feeling like I didn’t see all Edinburgh has to offer, so I think that’s a good enough reason for me to keep visiting this gem. hehehehe
Ah, Edinburgh.
You’ve permanently etched yourself in my heart the first time I laid eyes on you 365 days ago. Being back here in a year’s span feels so rewarding, universe’s food for thy soul. I think it’s safe to say UK feels closer to home now than anywhere else.
Sasha sprained her ankle the first night we got to our apartment so this visit was done at a fairly slow pace. Poor girl felt so bad and was drowning in pain simultaneously but with a positive mindset and a disciplined remedy routine, she recovered quick. Quick enough to not be limping on our fifth and last day when we took the train from Edinburgh to Nottingham - the impressive power of mind over matter!
So far our visit here in the UK has a number of adventurous stories and unfortunately, mostly unintentional. Sasha’s sprained ankle is one of it. Edinburgh’s rainfall throughout our 4 hour car ride to Glencoe when we rented a car for the day was second. Having to cancel our hike in Holyrood Park on the last day due to the downpour was third. The fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh unfortunate events will be another story for another day, today I wanna talk about Cuckoo’s Bakery. and yes, the rest of le sad tales is one for the books cause these incidents have successfully convinced me that I will never survive past the first round of the Amazing Race. Just sayin’.
So, back to this wonderful destination. We found ourselves in this humble cafe way too often. As if their lustworthy cupcake display wasn’t alluring enough, their white and blue interior decor with a ton of natural light peeking through the glass windows heightened the wow factor. Cozy with a hint of hipster - a good cafe experience.
Just a few doors down from our airbnb, it made walking over so convenient, especially for Sasha. The coffee and cupcake combination had to happen, you know your girl loves her coffee and desserts. Their vanilla cupcake was a tad bit too sweet for me but their chocolate selection was goooood. Pair that with a cup of americano? Party in your taste buds. Food-wise selection wasn’t as big as I desired, but their soup and sandwiches made up for it. Portions were HUGE too. To our surprise (well, not really) Cuckoo’s Bakery has one of the highest ratings on trip advisor so this cafe is definitely recommended to visit in Edinburgh!
These two are super adorable. Ting is a professional photographer and Christine is an aspiring photographer. So when they talk about cameras and lenses and other fancy photography terms, you’ll see me at the back with a blank expression cause they go at it at super speed 😂
It’s nice to take photos of photographers for once. We get to see and appreciate the faces behind other amazing photos.
So here you go, Ting and Christine ♥️
I’ve included the rest of my Regent’s Park shots in between too so enjoy!
This park never fails to make my jaw drop and luckily for us this time, it was sunny throughout! So sunny that we all complained it was too warm. Ah, Malaysians. Can never be too content with one temperature 😂
Last year’s downpour hindered lots of photo opportunities so I took full advantage of the lighting this round. Most of the really aesthetic spots we stumbled upon I didnt even realize it existed due to the rain last year! Regent’s Park is my Top 3 scenic parks in London so if you happen to be visiting this city, should check this place out!
It is our third day in London and I gotta say, this is one of the best feelings in the world! Though I felt pretty sick yesterday due to my vertigo, being back in the moody cold london weather, english architecture, hipster markets and walking culture and tube (surprisingly) makes me so happy. Plus I am traveling with my sister, boyfriend AND best friend, can’t get any better than this right?
Prior to this trip I was surviving on close to no sleep, stressed out of my mind with proposals, emails, shows, shoots and last minute errands and meetings. It was three months of back to back work, so this is a well-deserved break. The hecticness pre-flight led me to forgetting quite a few essential items to bring here but thank god for the existence of Poundland (a store where everything just costs 1 pound) right? Excited to explore London again and to show Sasha around before she heads to Nottingham for her studies!
That one sunday Zue, Ting and I drove down to Ipoh for a food trip in commemoration of Zue’s birthday! Yes, end of march to early april was the time of birthdays so I am currently in the phase of saving money to make sure I ain’t too broke, honey! haha. The roadtrip was really fun in all its spontaneity. We started our day really early, had mcd breakfast as we started our 2 hour journey, then kick-started the foodtrip with good and cheap wantan mee, chee cheong fun and foo chok. Then we walked around the hipster-esque parts in town, had our iced coffees in Burps & Giggles cafe, shopped for some OG snacks and ipoh white coffee, had chicken rice for early dinner then visited gua kek tok long.
The initial plan was to go see fireflies in selangor afterwards but to our surprise, we were then stuck in traffic for nearly 7 hours….. god that was tiring. Couldn’t imagine what Zue must’ve felt, she drove the whole day! We started getting really hungry (despite all the food consumed earlier hahaha) so we had a quick stop at a R&R and packed fruits for the ride back. Ting and I then had early work the next day and we were both pretty much beat.
but no regrets, definitely! It reminded me that SO MUCH can be done in one day if you put your mind and heart to it. Inspired me to do more road trips and get to know more of the gems hidden in this country. Thanks Zue for planning everything! Till the next one :)
Family weekend getaway to Lexis Hibiscus, Port Dickson. That was definitely the best weekend I’ve had so far this year. Everything was just, surreal. It was just right. and so very gorgeous.
You get to view both sunrise and sunset, their buffets and tea sets are amazing, the night entertainment was fun, facilities satisfactory and the interior of this place is just breathtaking. Highly recommend this place!
