that some people respond to any well-foreshadowed reveal with “ugh that plot twist was so predictable” proves bad faith criticism has rotted their brains to the point they think it’s bad writing if they can correctly identify information the writers were intentionally giving them

Sometimes the point of the reveal is not to shock you. Sometimes the point is anticipation of the reveal. You know it’s coming, just not when, how, or what the consequences will be. And sometimes that can be so much more interesting than not seeing it coming at all.

Men are so casually misogynistic that they don’t even believe the female AI voice on the train that tells passengers: “this train is ending at the next stop. Everyone please exit.”

Male passenger to his wife: “no, it doesn’t. We stay on our seats.”

i love being a gifmaker because i can just decide to spend hours giffing something extremely niche no one will give two damns about so that at least i can have content of it

Day 3 of the dire wolf news and certain people are still crying about the name khaleesie or being painfully dumb about the names romolus and remus. No, jkr did NOT come up with the name remus, uncultured swine.

I just found out about the manacled book and I

the fact that when we first hear of the azor ahai prophecy in davos i in a clash of kings melisandre says: “in ancient books of asshai it is written that there will come a day after a long summer when the stars bleed and the cold breath of darkness falls heavy on the world”, and then in daenerys’ very first chapter, in the very first sentence, it’s stated that “the dothraki named the comet shierak qiya, the bleeding star”. this is how the prophecy is introduced to us, and literally two chapters later in dany’s pov we see basically the exact same words repeated at the very beginning. it is not a coincidence that the only two instances in the entire book in which the red comet is referred to as a star that bleeds is in the azor ahai prophecy and the dothraki language/culture, which is connected to daenerys and her arc only. and after we already know that the other elements of that sentence have become true: the longest summer in living memory has just ended and the others are coming back. after we know the comet appeared on the night daenerys brought the dragons back into the world.

this is just one of many examples, but it’s just to say that it was never meant to be subtle. it was never meant to be a mystery, or a secret, or a shocking plot twist. for the characters in the story? it certainly is like that. but for us readers? it was always in plain sight and that’s the point.

Once again going through asoiaf tag and seriously wondering if these people have read a different version of the books???
