by Staff Sea Rescue and The Wildlife Docs are new this weekend! On the Emmy-nominated Sea Rescue, two California sea lions have fishing line wrapped around their necks and it looks like a death sentence for these unfortunate animals until the SeaWorld rescue team steps in to help. Then rescuers help a stranded, sunburned bottlenose dolphin in Florida and they must provide months of round-the-clock care to get him better. On The Wildlife Docs A mysterious growth inside Horst, an orangutan at Busch Gardens Tampa, has the Wildlife Docs concerned and a crucial procedure must be done to get him back in the swing of things. Then, watch the clever way The Wildlife Docs work with the meerkat medical check-ups while creating a brand new habitat for these cute and cunning critters. Sea Rescue and The Wildlife Docs air nationally on ABC on Saturday mornings during “Litton’s Weekend Adventure” and are among the most popular Saturday morning shows. Sea Rescue has been rated #1 in its timeslot in a number of major US markets and the shows have surpassed viewership of over 180 million. Then when a family discovers a desperately ill bottlenose dolphin in Alabama, his odds of survival don’t look good but a dedicated rehab team works to give “Chance” the dolphin a second chance at life. On The Wildlife Docs it’s time for a baby update! Out on the Serengeti Plain, we check in on a baby Grevy zebra named Stitch, the baby rhinoceros Jasiri and two giraffe calves… Tina and Arrow. Next it’s the five cats… three tigers cubs and two lion cubs. Plus, who could forget Jep, the baby kangaroo who had to be hand-raised? And finally, Catalina, the wattled crane. You will be amazed at how they’ve grown!

I’ve enjoyed hearing from guests who are just as excited as me for the new Haunted Mansion products coming this fall to Disney Parks . As it turns out, Madame Leota and the 999 happy haunts from the Haunted Mansion attraction have also received your sympathetic vibrations. This fall, they are gathering to open a new merchandise destination in Liberty Square at Magic Kingdom Park in Florida. The new merchandise shop will be located in the current Yankee Trader shop , which will have its last day of operation on July 27, 2014. Inspired by Madame Leota, the new location will carry select items from the upcoming Haunted Mansion Authentic program including apparel, home goods, souvenirs, and more.
Final arrangements are still being made, so I invite you to keep watching the Disney Parks Blog in the coming months. I can’t wait to share additional details about this new destination for all things Haunted Mansion. For more on merchandise inspired by the Haunted Mansion at Disney Parks, visit the links below:

As soon as Brer Fox and Brer Bear got wind that Brer Rabbit was leaving his briar patch and setting out for an adventure, they decided to trap and catch him. Luckily for Brer Rabbit, he was able to trick Brer Bear into springing Brer Fox’s hastily devised rabbit trap. This made Brer Fox so furious that Brer Rabbit decided to play another trick on the two, and he began to tell them about a secret “laughing place” that only he knew about. Sure enough, Brer Bear and Brer Fox followed that rabbit right to the foot of a twin oak tree … But instead of finding a laughing place, all Brer Bear found was honeybees. Suddenly, the rotted old tree gave way with a snap and pitched Brer Fox and Brer Bear into a darkened, water-filled cavern, buzzing with hundreds of angry bees. Brer Rabbit laughed and laughed at the prank he’d played on the two scoundrels. Unfortunately for Brer Rabbit, however, he tended to laugh just a little too long at his own joke and before he knew what was happening, Brer Fox captured that hapless hare. Brer Rabbit was dragged by the ears up to the top of Chick-A-Pin Hill, where Brer Fox’s lair was hidden in a hollowed log that jutted out over the mighty Splash Mountain waterfall.

But for National Ice Cream Day, we’re stepping out with some ice cream creations you may not have tried. Here are eight favorites that are a little more creative than a double dip of vanilla or chocolate: If you’re lucky enough to find yourself dining at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort on National Ice Cream Day, order the Sundae Sampler, a mini-trio with Frangelico toffee mousse, a float with root-beer flavored ice cream and homemade vanilla soda and a “banana split” (mousse, fresh roasted pineapple, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, candied peanuts, chocolate sauce and a cherry). You won’t want to share. Run, don’t walk, to try the chocolate macaron sandwich at L’Artisan des Glaces at the France pavilion at Epcot . A crunchy chocolate cookie sandwich with dark chocolate ice cream made right there, it’s simply divine. There are 16 flavors, but, seriously, that chocolate-chocolate sensation is a must. Another favorite? The hand-pressed brioche ice cream sandwich.

They traveled more than 950 miles from Farmington to take part in Disney Performing Arts. The student performers, under the direction of Linda Huck and Elliot Naes, greeted the guests of the park as they marched past Cinderella Castle on their way down Main Street, U.S.A. Their performance was truly in the Disney spirit as they performed several classics including Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious from Mary Poppins and Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah from Song of the South. The students helped to get the crowd excited before Disney Festival of Fantasy Parade, giving them an inside look at what it is like to be a professional in the entertainment industry. The group also participated in the Disney Performing Arts workshop Youre Instrumental, where the students learned how to get the most of their rehearsals and honed their sight-reading skills under the guidance of an experienced Disney Teaching Artist. This is the marching bands third visit to the resort with Disney Performing Arts, having first performed in 2008 at Magic Kingdom Park. Vocal, instrumental and dance ensembles from around the world apply to perform each year as a part of Disney Performing Arts at both the Disneyland Resort in California and the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Once selected, they are given the opportunity to perform at the resort for an international audience of theme park guests. Millions of performers have graced the stages of the Disney Parks in the more than 25-year history of the program. For more information, visit www.DisneyPerformingArts.com or call 1-800-603-0552. Disney Performing Arts unlocks student potential and helps young people make their own dreams come true whether its performing in front of an international audience of thousands at Disney theme parks and resorts or honing their craft in enriching workshops and clinics taught by entertainment professionals.
