Beleg is one of the Firstborn, the parentless Elves who awoke on the shores of Cuiviénen, one of the Nelyar. He chose the future Elu Thingol as his King. When Thingol disappeared, Beleg remained in Middle Earth to protect and guide the Teleri who still looked for their King. He took part in the Hunting of the Wolf, together with King Thingol, Mablung, Beren Ercharmion and the great hound Huan.He served as Chief March-warden of Doriath alongside Mablung. Together, the two of them were the only Sindar to fight in the Battle of Unnumbered Tears as they did not wish to stand aside.He rescued Túrin son of Húrin from the woods of Doriath and the two became the closest of companions. He was a teacher, friend and brother in arms.When Túrin left Doriath, Beleg followed, wielding Anglachel. Beleg found the band of outlaws Turin was with, but they believed he was a spy and was tortured by them until Turin found and released him.

Unable to persuade Turin to return to Doriath with him, he gained permission to join Turin. He went into the wilds again and found Turin on Amon Rûdh. This area became known as the Land of Bow and Helm.When Túrin was captured by the Orcs, Beleg was grievously wounded, yet with his elven skills and healing ability, he recovered. He met the escaped thrall Gwindor in Taur-nu-Fuin and together they rescued Túrin, but as Beleg cut the bonds from Túrin’s wrists and ankles he slipped, accidentally cutting Túrin with his sword. Túrin awoke and did not recognize Beleg in the darkness. In self-defence, he wrested the sword from Beleg and killed him.His bow was named Belthronding and was buried with him in Taur-nu-Fuin and his ever-returning arrow, which broke when he fell upon it shortly before his death, was called Dailir. Anglachel, the black sword forged by Eol, was taken by Túrin and renamed Gurthang.

PERSONALITY

Beleg is known for his cheerful demeanour. He is friendly, usually, and whilst he may be cold, he is not unkind or cruel. However, he is also painfully honest, blunt, and an awful liar. He is stubborn and loyal, hard to sway from his course. This, combined with his frequent childishness and his inability to hold his tongue, gets him into trouble often.He is sympathetic to all creatures, kind and easily moved to pity. He has a strong sense of duty, but he will abandon it to do what he feels is right. He has an open heart, soft - he falls in love easily and quickly, but heals from heartbreak easily too. He claims to distrust the Noldor for their pride and their actions, but he has a suspiciously high number of Noldorin friends.His loyalty, once earned, is almost entirely unshakeable. You’re not getting rid of him.A woodsman of renown, Beleg is skilled in hunting, stalking and killing his prey as well as surviving in the wilds and other tough conditions. With his black bow, Belthronding, he hardly ever misses a target. Belthronding is of his own making and he refuses to reveal if it is enchanted or not. He is skilled, too, with a sword and in battle he is a fearsome sight. Furthermore, he is a talented healer, well versed in practical medicine and minor Elven healing-magic.

APPEARANCE

Beleg has long, black hair that falls just below his shoulders, which he often wears in a bun or braided. In later life, once he has retired from war, he wears his hair loose.His eyes are bright and clear, storm cloud grey, and can be as gentle as a stream or as fierce as steel. Beleg stands tall but not the tallest of elves. He is broad shouldered, with well muscled arms and back from his archery. He has strong powerful legs, built for battle. His skin is marked with scars and bruises. His most notable scars are along the top and inside of his pointed ears and, in verses that take place after his death, a huge one spanning across his chest diagonally.He considers himself handsome.

  Beleg Lives AU  
Gravely injured by Túrin in Taur-nu-Fuin, Beleg was believed to be dead by him and Gwindor. However, he miraculously survived long enough to be found by a group of wandering mortal hunters, and with their aid, he healed himself and went after Túrin, hoping to avert or at least lessen the destruction that would follow his friend. (Whether or not he catches up to Túrin depends on the thread.)  Reborn    
Reluctant to face rebirth in Valinor, Beleg avoided rebirth for as long as possible. Eventually, he begged to be allowed to return to Middle-Earth and Námo, eager to be rid of him, agreed. He was reborn in Middle-Earth with very few memories of anything, although they slowly returned to him.  Valinor    
After his rebirth in Valinor, Beleg is not quite as happy as most other reborn elves. He longs to see Middle-Earth (and Túrin) again, but he knows that it is impossible. He is a follower of Oromë.  Ghost    
Beleg’s spirit haunts Taur-nu-fuin, as well as Doriath, the ruins of Nargothrond, and the Forest Of Brethil, by the graves of Túrin and Morwen, and anywhere else he fancies, really. He is bitter and full of regret, but he fears - dreads - Mandos. He does not want to leave Middle Earth.

In this AU, Beleg left the Sindar in favour of living under his own rule. He lives alone in the depths of a forest. The growing darkness of Melkor has corrupted both him and the forest, but there is still some of Beleg left in him.  Dragon Age  
Hailing from a Nevarran alienage, Beleg is used to rough conditions. His talent for picking fights with anyone often got him into trouble, and eventually he left the Alienage to pursue life as a mercenary. During these travels, he encountered a group of Grey Wardens, and eager for a true purpose, signed up right there. His joining was successful, but he was not in Ferelden for the Blight.  Witcher AU  
Beleg was six years old when his parents were killed for the crime of being elves; the exact circumstances are unknown to him, but he just remembers coming home from playing to find the house empty and his parents dead. Unable to pay rent, he lost his home and lived on the streets until the age of eight, when he caught the attention of a Witcher passing through the city. The man took pity on the boy and took him to be trained as a Witcher.Beleg trained in the school of the Cat, known for taking elves and producing highly volatile Witchers. Since his successful training and the destruction of the Cat School, he wanders the world angry and reckless, taking contracts on men and monsters alike, and disliking the idea that witchers should be neutral, helping those he sympathises with.

  Wanderer AU  
Born in Essos, Beleg was adopted by a childless merchant and his wife, with the intention of raising him to inherit the business. However, when Beleg was only a few years old, the merchant and his wife were blessed with a son of their own. The boys were raised as brothers, but now Beleg would have to seek a fortune of his own. He worked as a mercenary in Essos for several years before leaving for Westeros seeking new opportunities.  The Elder Scrolls AU  
A Bosmer raised in Valenwood, Beleg left home to become an adventurer. He’s been everywhere from the heartlands of Cyrodiil, to the deserts of Hammerfell to the deepest swamps of Black Marsh. He does not strictly follow the Green Pact, and eats plants/fruits/vegetables and uses wood, though he tries to avoid doing too much damage to nature.  Modern    
The adopted son of a well off family, Beleg ‘Belly’ Cúthalion is a doctor. He lives close to his childhood friend Túrin and enjoys coffee, long walks and recreational archery. And dogs.

Mablung was born during the Great Journey, on the banks of the Anduin River, and met Beleg first as a youth there. They have been inseparable ever since.Mablung’s parents sailed west with the Teleri and he does not know what became of them.Mablung and Daeron were present at the Mereth Aderthad as Thingol's messengers.With Beleg, he also participated in the Hunting of the Wolf to reclaim the Silmaril from Carcharoth, who had swallowed Beren's hand holding it. Mablung "was chiefly remembered by in legend" for after removing Beren's hand (still unpolluted and holding the Silmaril) from the belly of the beast, his own hand fell violently to the ground and was "forced open", from what appeared to be the great weight of the Silmaril.

Beleg and Mablung were the only two Elves of Doriath who took part in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, and he fought with the host of Fingon.Mablung became entwined in the Doom of Húrin's children when he interceded in a confrontation between Túrin and Saeros (a counsellor to the King) in Thingol's hall. He later attempted to guide Morwen (and Niënor) to find Túrin, but lost them due to the dragon Glaurung's interference.He spent the next three years searching for them. He eventually found Túrin shortly before his suicide.Mablung was slain in the Battle of the Thousand Caves by the Dwarves of Nogrod in front of the treasure chamber in which the Nauglamír had been stored.

PERSONALITY

Mablung is seen by many to be a stern elf. He speaks little, and always considers his words carefully, and is usually seen as serious and dull.
He is not.When he is ‘off duty’ he is just as lively and joyful as anyone else, and he often gets into misadventures with Beleg, and is equally responsible for their hijinks. He just gets away with it.Mablung deals with the court and diplomatic aspects of being a captain, while Beleg is focused on the borders themselves. Mablung also does all the paperwork.His bond with Beleg is deeper than friendship. They are brothers-in-arms, they are two parts of one whole, made to work together by Eru himself.

APPEARANCE

He is a giant of an elf, built like an ox, 7’11 with huge shoulders. His hair is brown and he wears it to his shoulders, pinned away from his face. His face is grave and serious, but when he smiles, there is a cool beauty in him, like mist on a winter morning.He is left handed.
