Hi,

I hope this year's GSoC goes well!

P.S.

There is a small typo in the third paragraph under the "About You"
heading: "our our" in "[...] check out the ideas below and then our
our application template. [...]" on the page < http://www.minix3.org/soc-2011
>.

Us too. So far, each successive Summer of Code has been better than
the last. We're hoping to keep with that trend.

Very cool! May it continue.

You're very welcome.

About students' participation in the GSoC, do you allow students with
part time jobs to continue working part time while they participate in
the event, so that they might continue at their jobs after the summer?

Thank you,

According to Google:

GSoC is a job and needs an investment of about 40 hours a week. If you
know in advance that you'll need to take a couple of days during the
summer of code, you should communicate that with your mentor
beforehand and plan to make up for lost days.

students/)

So the answer is essentially no, unless it is a very small job (I
would say a full day a week is probably already too much), the student
informs the mentor in advance and compensates for the lost time.

With kind regards,
Erik
