me? i'm just a private eye trying to make a difference here in this hellscape we call a city. folks come into my office, beggin' me to track down some long forgotten shitpost. and it's my job to oblige. my name is Hellsite Detective, Tumblr Private Eye.

you lookin' for a post? whether it's a recent post, or a long forgotten cold case from a decade ago, anything goes in this business. so long as you provide me with a lead to follow, be it a quote from the post, a detailed description, or a screenshot, i'll do what i can to chase leads and track that sucker down.

for any of you saps that can't figure this one out: send in an ask requesting a post to be found, and include a quote, description of the post, or a screenshot, and i'll find it and tag you with the results

disclaimer: i'm only takin' on one case at a time. so you fellas are gonna have to wait your turn.

hello! this is your local Hellsite Detective, P.P.I., talkin’! i’ve got a very special announcement to make! a while back, i was told i should open up a Ko-fi, so here’s me doin’ exactly that! if you’re lookin’ to support me, feel free to send in some cash!

it’d be greatly appreciated! thank you!

at 2 million dollars, @hellsite-hall-of-fame will do a face reveal!!

hello madame detective (did i get that right?), i am looking for a post from mindylahiris from 2014 that predicted goncharov.

the one that says "what if we created a fake tv show etc" thank you madame detective

diggin through my backlog i stumbled across this particular ask. seemed like a simple enough one to tackle! and right i was, because i managed to find it rather quickly! and yes, madame detective does work. i also accept “miss detective” or “loser detective lady on tumblr”

i’ve also been referred to as something along the lines of “little beorbleo on my phone”

I'm trying to find that post that starts with "if I had a lame ass friend I would hype them up so much", but I can't find it

a rather simple post to find here! i assume anyway… the request said “lame ass friend” but the post i found said “lame ass BOYfriend”. i do hope it’s the same post! additionally i love the little artwork provided with this request it makes me very happy for some reason

so i was lookin’ through my requests to find a post to do when i decided to shake it up a little. instead of going through my mountain of requests, i’d take a peak in my Drafts Folder! there, i found this particular request! i did a quick search and managed to find it! so if this anon is still around… i didn’t forget! i never forget!

i was takin' a look at my backlog, seein' what i had missed, when i came across a particular case. seemed like it'd be a rather simple one... if it weren't for the fact that the Tumblr Authorities had stolen the image attached to the case file. i figured i had to have accidentally asked them to do this, so i took a look at my [insert noir metaphor for the Settings menu here] to see what was up. but of course, i couldn't find anythin' of the sort. so, figurin' it had to be a problem with how i was viewin' the case file, i decided to open it up on my laptop. and, wouldn't you know it, it loaded perfectly fine there! what a wonderful runaround this site has given me!

either way, once i could finally see the image, i tracked it down no problem! hopefully one day we can get to the bottom of what not-jason's real name actually is. personally, my money is on Mason...

looking for a post thats like.. a little chimneysweep boy saying "i havrnt a pronoun to me name ☹️" and then he and another orphan child get in a fight?? i dont remember any specific keywords. i hope this is enough information

ah, guess we should do an english detective for this…

i received this ‘ere case from a curious ol’ chap who seemed to need some right proper ‘elp. thankfully this particular post was perfectly yet peculiarly possible to find quickly! and i may just be a poor detective with not a penny to me name, but this post ‘as made me a richer woman than even ‘er Majesty, the Queen

Post Case: Right Proper Closed, Innit?

can you pretty please find the wee snaw post?

Avatar

a rather simple one, which i’m grateful for after the wildest of goose chases yesterday. and an absolute classic of a post at that. nothin’ much to say about this one, so i’ll leave you with this limerick:

there once was a wee from snaw
who wee snaw’d on snaw till they wee’d
they wee’d on their snaw
and snaw’d on their wee
and now their wee’s are snaw more

Hello detective, I have had this screenshot saved for a while. It came from a post with a bunch of really awesome quotes from a biography. I cannot find the post. Help would be appreciated, and thanks for all you do.

there i was, trackin' down today's post case. it was a slippery one, and i didn't think i'd be able to find it at all. but there, just barely eluding my grasp, was what looked to be the post. i hunted, fought with tumblr, nearly got a virus from some sketchy website i ended up on, but finally the post was within my grasp! i clicked the link, raced to the post, and... it was my client. a well wish to me for never giving up with an attached rickroll and the quote i sought

was this it? was the spoils of my hunt just a rickroll? no i thought. it couldn't be. the message was thanking me for never giving up. this was simply just a red herring! i pressed onward, because there was one more mention on tumblr that i had noticed in my travels from a different blog. i tracked it down, fought for it, and once again i found the post. i clicked the link and... it was my client again!

this was starting to grow complicated. i had exhausted every mention of the quote from tumblr and everything led back to my client. was this an elaborate prank? just a rickroll? it was starting to look like it. but i was curious about just one thing... was this quote even from the biography? so, to answer this, i scowered the internet looking for a free pdf (because i currently am dirt broke) and managed to find one. i downloaded it and scanned the book for the quoted paragraph and, sure enough, there it was in black and white:

so, this means the associated quote was real. but this didn't answer the question of where the post was. the only other mention on the entire internet regarding "the swimming pool was full of furniture" is a news article from earlier this month about a Dallas tornado

defeated, and unsure where else to turn, i decided to take a look at my client's blog. and, to my shock and horror, i realized something that would've saved me a lot of time had i noticed it sooner... my client was a rickroll gimmick blog. this was an elaborate prank

you sent me on a wild goose chase, good sir. and i very much respect it. this was phenomenal and i had a blast. have a great day!

you did!

also we’ve reached the part of the plot where the villain monologues about his plan:

Can you find that on writing prompt where the spiders in the attic start worshipping you as their god? I think the blog is deactivated now

a rather quick one today! convenient as well since i'm rather sleepy. but a sleepy detective must work all the same! i managed to track down the writing prompt rather quickly, however the blog is still active so i'm worried this isn't the right one. either way it seems like it's accurate!

Here's all I remember about the blorbo piracy post:

Talked about how one does not need to own their blorbos in order to have them as blorbos in the first place.

Used a character from genshin impact as an example.

had a reblog with the "you wouldn't pirate a car" image edited to say "you wouldn't pirate a blorbo."

gettin’ back on the case, i frantically searched everywhere i possibly good, but this post was remaining rather resilient. i was prepared to state that this post had gone cold when i found… this

it wasn’t the original post i was lookin’ for, but it was referencin’ it! i was hopin’ this would lead me closer to the post i sought, but it wasn’t lookin’ great… but pressed on i did! i thought “perhaps the user who reblogged the above post knew something!” however, to my surprise, said reblogger happened to be my client. the case got deeper and i got curiouser… more curious? doesn’t matter. what DOES matter was i was runnin’ out of options fast, so i got desperate. i started using tumblr’s actual search feature. of course, that turned up blank too. however, tumblr is a big place. and its community bigger still. so i’m openin’ this one up to yall...

if anyone has information on this particular post, send it my way. this post must be found! it is important! but for now…

Out of curiosity, would you be cool with people writing fanfic of you as the hellsite detective? (So I guess ‘you’ more as a character than you as You, since it’d be hellsite detective fanfic, but I’m sure you get the drift)

Your in-character posts are just so interesting, they’ve got me thinkin’ about how fun it would be to explore this little world you’ve built more

omg yes of course this would be okay!!! a little noir mystery with me at the forefront?? this would be a blast!! show me when it’s done absolutely!

is there a version of what i do but instead of lost posts it’s finding lost music that isnt available anymore? asking for someone whose name rhymes with “Shmellsite Shmetective”

this is basically like me going “alright gang i got a case for yall now!” and i think that’s so fun

if anyone wants to help some! the songs im looking for are “Good For” and “Nightmares”, both by Elizabeth Hull

lots of helpful suggestions thank you all!!

unfortunately i’ve exhausted all of them except asking on reddit (which frightens me because reddit) so it seems those songs will elude my grasp forever. a pain too because they were wonderful and i’ll miss them!!

however i recently realized her band put out a new EP a little bit ago and i completely missed it?? so that’s filling the void with new songs yay!!
