I have a lot to be thankful for, but when I strip it down to moments, these are some of my favorites:

When my daughter lets me brush her hair

My teenage son melts into me for a hug

My husband tucks my arm under his while we’re sleeping

When the dogs rest their small chins on my not-small thighs

My daughter choreographs and performs her own cheer routines

My son maneuvers past an invisible defender and sinks the shot

When my kids forget to be embarrassed and say “love you too” as I drop them off for school

My husband calls or texts for no specific reason other than to check on me

I see and hug my mom for the first time in a long time
