SCALAMANDRÉ
Originally designed in 1945 for Gino of Capri restaurant, affectionately known as “Gino’s," Scalamandré restored the Zebras wallcovering at this iconic Upper East Side establishment in 1973. Flora Scalamandré, wife of Franco Scalamandré, skillfully hand-drew the signature motif, the renowned Scalamandré Zebras design.

Since its founding in 1870, The Met has always aspired to be more than a treasury of rare and beautiful objects. Every day, art comes alive in the Museum's galleries and through its exhibitions and events, revealing new ideas and unexpected connections across time and across cultures.
