From a syntaxonomical point of view, the presence of species such as Festuca gigantea, Hypericum androsaemum, Senecio nemorensis, Culcita macrocarpa or Woodwardia radicans in these forests allow us to include them in the suballiance Hyperico androsaemi-Alnenion glutinosae, belonging to the Alnion incanae alliance, Populetalia albae order and Salici-Populetea nigrae class (Table 7, Rivas-Martinez & al., 2002).
There are two variants within both subassociations: the typical one and a hyperhygrophilous one, this latter being characterized by the occurrence of thermophilous and hygrophilous ferns, such as Woodwardia radicans, Culcita macrocarpa or Hymenophyllum tunbrigense.
According to Susan Roach (1992), the word "quilt" originates from the Latin "
culcita," meaning stuffed sack, mattress, or cushion, and comes to English from the French "cuilte." Although individual quilt artists were long ignored in most art history treatments of quilting, the long history of quilting and patchwork spanning many centuries and cultures has received considerable attention.
Starfish (Acanthaster, Protoreaster,
Culcita, Linckia) are common residents of coral reef.
For instance, the starfish
Culcita novaeguineae is found in the Pacific Ocean and is replaced by sibling species C.
Tambien su conservacion en medio humedo, como seria el suelo, ha sido estudiada en algunas especies de bosques higrofilos como Woodwardia radicans y
Culcita macrocarpa y en tres especies de Dryopteris, D.corleyi, D.
