MEACO 2009 was the first-ever international Medical Association Congress won by Bahrain with more than 2,000 medical professionals and over 500 international speakers visiting the destination.

The ADTA and HAAD are now to support MEACO in the international promotion of WOC 2012.

Health Minister Faeqa Al Saleh, MEACO board chairman Abdul Aziz bin Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and International Council of Ophthalmology Professor Hugh Taylor addressed the audience.

Dr Abdulaziz Al Rajhi, president of the Middle East African Council of Ophthalmology (Meaco), has taken over as the president of the World Ophthalmology Congress (WOC) 2012.

HRH Premier welcomed the kingdom's hosting of the international conference of the Middle East Africa Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO), to be held under his patronage in January, 2015.

Delegate attendance at the 10th International Congress of the Middle East African Council of Ophthalmology (MEACO) in Bahrain was the highest for MEACO and exceeded its delegate numbers at its Dubai Congress in 2007.
