JEDDAH: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) has concluded its voluntary medical campaign in
Mukalla, Yemen, after conducting 99 surgical operations.
An ERC delegation, accompanied by Ahmed Sulaiman Al Akbari, Director-General of Al
Mukalla Countryside Areas, inspected the work and ensured that proper tools and enough manpower were utilised to speed up the repairs of the roads.
This is about 260km south-southeast of Salalah and 350km east-southeast of Al Ghaidah (Yemen) and 640km east-northeast of Riyan (
Mukalla).
At that time, the UAE also began to implement small-scale operations in eastern Aden and western
Mukalla to secure urban centers and prevent the future resurgence of AQAP in those cities by cutting their infrastructural links to the interior.
The city, situated in Julalrimaya, Western
Mukalla, was built following a flood disaster in 2008.
The contract to construct the building was signed earlier this week by the ERC and the Bonyan Contractors Office in
Mukalla, in the presence of Major General Faraj Salmeen Al Bahsani, Governor of Hadramaut.
The first attack targeted a security checkpoint with a car bomb in Borom area in the western city of
Mukalla, while the second targeted a security checkpoint in the center of the city, a local official explained.
Another explosion hit the port city of
Mukalla, also killing two soldiers, a security official told Reuters.
A Dubai-based APS source says Kuwait and Saudi Arabia had decided since 2015 to consider having crude oil export pipelines built to
Mukalla, where they would have terminals, as well as an adjacent free zone in which related export industries will be constructed in partnership with IOCs.

Mukalla, killing at least 13 government troops.
Pro-government forces recaptured an oil terminal as well as the city of
Mukalla, which was considered an extremist stronghold, military sources said.
