Rotifera

In an attempt to establish the live food requirements and to optimize rotifers and Artemia production during the larval culture of the spotted sand bass larvae, the feeding efficiency in terms of the feeding incidence (percentage of larvae with prey) and the feeding intensity (number of prey in the digestive tract) was evaluated during larval rearing.

Rotifers and copepods were less frequent in the diet.

The tintinnid Favella serrata dominated the estuary midstream, together with the rotifer Synchaeta okai, and Synchaeta pectinata was the only species that dominated the community in the estuary upstream (Table VI).

Sommerstorffia spinosa has long been known as an interesting water mold that must capture and feed on loricate rotifers in order to reproduce.

Rotifers, cladocerans, and meroplankton (pelagic juveniles of demersal species) were identified to the lowest possible taxonomic level.
