It has regular, well used paths leading from the
sett which may be followed for some distance, often to a watering hole.
"One dog was known to be in the
sett from 3.40pm on Saturday to 10am the following morning when it was seen by police to come out of its own accord."
According to National Wildlife Crime Unit badger baiting involves dogs wearing radio collars being sent below ground into a badger
sett.
"We work very closely with Kirklees Badger Protection Group, which does fabulous work to protect badgers and their
setts. They came with us after alerting us to the damage.
The project forms part of a plan to spend [pounds sterling]835,000 on the extending
setts which include the investment in a number of surplus stone bricks for future repairs.

sett recorder for North Wales for Clwyd Badger Group I would like to take issue with Eryl Jones for his far from scientific comments about badgers and hedgehogs.
Rather than assume a pre-specified home-range size, we performed our neighbourhood analysis using a circular moving window of 12 different radii (here referred to as distance classes) ranging between 0 and 10 km: 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10.0 km outside the 1 [km.sup.2] raster cells in which

sett interference at Bradford Kaims near Belford on March 13.
This is the time of the year mature animals actually move their young out of the
setts so it is not uncommon to hear of them on the move.

Offenders use bull lurchers, a cross between the lurcher and the illegal pit bull, for dragging badgers out of their
setts with their strong jaws, or lamping - taking large game above ground including deer and foxes, using whistles and torches.

THE Badger Trust has threatened to take legal action against a group of farmers who plan to gas badgers in their
setts.
