Joints will always collapse; training them to collapse toward the fallboard is preferred.

It provides classic lines, traditional leg and toe block design plus an authentic fallboard. The CS10 also employs the Soundboard Speaker System, which uses a real wooden soundboard to create the sound of an acoustic instrument.

It can be practiced on the fallboard or a tabletop.

"Desert in Bloom" is a fine introduction to irregular and changing meters, while "Mother Earth, Sister Moon" asks the performer to tap rhythmic figures on the fallboard (the composer even suggests having a percussionist perform these while possibly improvising similar rhythms).

You might ask the student to first "play" the piece, or part of it, at an imaginary piano or on the fallboard, counting or chanting the rhythm to help them get a feel for the piece.

The mind, not being focused on the music, fixes its attention, instead, on extraneous details: the placement of our feet on the floor, the reflection of our hands in the shiny fallboard of the piano, the sounds in the hall, the note we just missed.
