Having repackaged the magazine as The Egoist, Marsden and her authors next attempted to convert
imagism into a brand name for advertising.
In Pound's formulation, the three principles of
imagism are: "direct treatment of `the thing,' whether subjective or objective"; "to use absolutely no word that does not contribute to the presentation"; and "to compose in the sequence of the musical phrase, not in the sequence of a metronome." For models of spare, nondiscursive presentation and meters other than the accentual-syllabic pentameter, imagists turned to a wide variety of literatures, including classical Greek and Latin poetry, Chinese and Japanese forms, and biblical, Old English, Provencal, and Symbolist verse.
Rather, he seems closer to models present in previous generations:
imagism, Emily Dickinson's poems, Blake's proverbs.
Essentially an outgrowth of
imagism, objectivism held that attention should be given to the poem as a unique and distinct structural entity, not to the symbolic intent of the poet.

imagism that marked its beginning.
