Garden Up Green is a combination of my story and retired blog that was published from 2014 - 2020. I went from growing a garden in the ground on our family farm to raising food and flowers in raised beds with great success. During this process I discovered a positive way to live and implemented many tips that my grandmother shared with me when I was younger. I found helping others do the same was an encouraging experience.

Inside this book, I walk you through how to establish a raised bed garden without all the headache while unpacking how to maintain a growing space through the seasons. I have provided you with the most simplistic methods you will ever come across. These methods are the foundation of gardening and have worked for generations. They are not complicated to learn and you will quickly discover your likes and dislikes. This insight will allow you to tailor a garden that fits your lifestyle without skipping the important steps.

From growing food you love to eat and fresh herbs I also cover the benefit of adding flowers to welcome the pollinators. No garden is complete without a list of DIY projects and I built many during those blogging years. I have brought forward the most popular in addition to a few new ones you will want to implement. It is my hope this garden book is one you will use as a beneficial resource and treasure as an easy-to-use for years to come.

Carole West is the author of three books, Ground Raised Quail, Quail Getting Started and Garden Up Green. She has also freelanced for many national magazines and currently writes a new blog that encourages goodness.

Now empty nesters, she lives in the piney woods of East Texas with her husband Robert and dog Kramer. She spends quality time outdoors enjoying nature and growing their own food, herbs and flowers.

The countryside is her paradise. Whether Carole is outdoors making a wreath or painting in her art studio, creativity flows everywhere. In her words, I have learned that life is about internal growth and I understand that sharing our God given talents is vital to a thriving society. These gifts mold who we are in addition to telling our story.

Book Review For Learn How to Grow in Raised Beds
Carole West introduces us to the very beginning of her beautiful garden journey by combining rich text and gardening memories with her "spirited," Italian Grandma. Her grandmother provided Carole with memorable adventures in the garden as well as a strudy lifelong foundation for practical and successful gardening practices. Carole's commitment to growing in raised beds is highlighted in photos, detailed instructions and supply lists for building our own raised beds. In this book we find that there are many ways to build our own raised beds, which really resonated with me. I love options when I garden. Carole also shares what to grow and how to grow, which includes propagation, transplanting and various choices of fertilization. Her last chapter includes one of a kind DIY projects with photos for the projects as well. After reading Garden Up Green I was left with the feeling that I had just spent time with Carole in her gardens chatting over a glass Iced Tea. I highly recommend this Book for anyone who is just starting out in their garden journey as well as a seasoned gardner too. There are words of wisdom all throughout the book!
