Derrick Wayne Smith
- Actor
Derrick Wayne is a Comedian, Actor, Writer, and budding Filmmaker. He
was given the tag name "A Giant Amongst Men" at a very young age by an
unknown preacher in a church service who picked him out of the audience
and expressed that greatness was in his future. He has strong credits
in film, television, and theatre, and can often be seen headlining,
hosting, and simply acting a damn fool all around Los Angeles at venues
such as The Icehouse, Haha Cafe, The Hollywood Improv, etc. and even
around the nation at times. Remarkably, at his first comedy stand-up
performance he was voted number one comedian by the audience, though he
was on the bill with established working comedians. In theatre, not
only has Derrick produced and starred in the edgy, legendary drama
"Split Second", which soldout for most of the show's run, but he has
also starred in plays at various respectable venues including the
Stellar Adler Theatre and playing "Othello" at the Redlands Bowl
Amphitheatre (seating 6000). Wayne was nominated for Best Actor in the
2006 COLSAC Theatre Awards and was a 2005 Methodfest Film Festival
Actor Finalist. Despite having great film acting credibility, his
ultimate plan is to write, direct, star, finance, and distribute his
own films. His writing skills encompass both the drama and comedy
genres and he is quickly developing a reputation as an excellent script
consultant and collaborator. This diverse, hardworking artist also has
a master's degree in Counseling Psychology and a background in hip-hop
dance and choreography.
