After studying German and Italian at the Humboldt University of Berlin for three years, Godehard Giese studied Acting at the University of the Arts (UdK) in Berlin. He was a member of the Stadttheater Hildesheim for two years. He continued to work in the theater and began filming for cinema and television in 2005. Since then, he has appeared in films by some of the most renowned German and international directors such as Emily Atef, Edward Berger, Ilker Catak, Oliver Hirschbiegel, Andreas Kleinert, Marie Kreuzer, Christian Petzold, Hans-Christian Schmid, Tom Tykwer, Gore Verbinski and Wim Wenders.
In 2014, his directorial debut "The Story of the Astronaut", which he produced and wrote the screenplay for, premiered in competition at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival.
As an actor, he was nominated twice for the German Film Award presented by the German Film Academy and won the German Television Academy Award for Best Actor.
