- TriviaThe hotel lobby the girls enjoy drinks in is a recycled set from the Witt/Thomas/Harris sitcom It's A Living. The set was used as Louise Lasser's character Maggie McBurney's house. In this episode it's painted and decorated in a tropical theme. The set would later be recycled again as Sophia and Dorothy's apartment in Brooklyn although it was redressed in a 1940s/50s motif painted in neutral colors.
- GoofsWhen Rose first discovers the window, it is shut. It then cuts to a very brief shot of Dorothy then to a wider view of the room and the window is wide open.
- Quotes
Blanche Devereaux: You miserable, low-down piece of Yankee slime!
Winston Hardwick III: Blanche, I sense some hostility toward me.
Blanche Devereaux: How'd you like to sense a coconut upside your head?
Dorothy Zbornak: Blanche, get a hold of yourself.
Blanche Devereaux: I don't want to get a hold of myself!
[gestures at the three men]
Blanche Devereaux: They invite us to go out on a boat, then they sail us right out in the middle of a storm... we end up shipwrecked on this god-forsaken island!
Rick: Hey, so we made a few mistakes. Nobody's perfect.
Dwayne: Yeah, what's the big deal?
Blanche Devereaux: WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL? You almost KILLED us, you nitwits! I hate you! I curse the day I ever laid eyes on you! I curse the day your mama ever laid eyes on your daddy! I curse the day your daddy ever laid down with your mama!
Winston Hardwick III: You ladies should be grateful - it was OUR superior sailing skill that saved your lives!
Dorothy Zbornak: Hanging onto the mast and screaming, "Please God, take the old ladies but don't hurt us!" That does not qualify as skill.
Rick: Look, ladies. We've taken all the guff we're gonna take offa you...
Blanche Devereaux: No, you're gonna take all the guff I got, and you're gonna LIKE it.
Rose Nylund: ALL RIGHT, EVERYBODY, NOW SHUT THE HELL UP! I'm in charge here: from now on, everybody listens to ME!
Dwayne: Why should we listen to you?
Rose Nylund: Because I happen to be the most decorated Pioneer Scout in the HISTORY of northern Minnesota! I can build a hundred foot rope bridge, start a fire with rocks, distill sea water into drinking water! Now if you want to get out of this alive, I suggest you listen to me! Do I hear any objections?
[silence from everyone]
Rose Nylund: I didn't THINK so! Blanche, start breaking up the boat. We need wood for a fire. And you three, head up north, up that ridge. Based on those rock formations, there's a good chance of finding a waterfall. If you don't find anything in an hour, head back for the coastline, follow it around, and look for our fire. Now move.
[nobody moves]
Rose Nylund: I SAID MOVE!
[everybody scurries]

Over the years, I have enjoyed watching the series and feel it was and (in syndication) continues to be one of the wittiest and most well-written sitcoms. I always watch it if I am in a down mood and need a good laugh.
However, this episode had two of the most obnoxious portrayals of its run. Those actors were the employees of the Caribbean resort. I have never been a fan of the guy who played the concierge in any role I've ever seen him portray. And the actor who did the schtick of vibrating their hotel's non-functioning vibrating bed was not the least bit funny. I don't think I chuckled once watching the whole episode.
Finally, Rose's take-charge actions at the end were ridiculous. I love Betty White but her character was always my least favorite and her actions in this episode were uncharacteristic and painfully bad.
Bottom line, I hated this episode.
