- TriviaChandler Sr. is on his HAM radio and says that he is "transmitting in the blind", in the military this is a term for when a transmission is made without expecting a response when two-way communication isn't possible because the person transmitting is observing radio silence and unable to reply for security reasons or because their radio is damaged and the transmitter isn't functioning. In aviation transmitting in the blind is commonly done when an aircraft is approaching a non-towered (unmanned) airport, the pilot broadcasts his location, direction of travel and intentions so that any other aircraft potentially landing or taking off know to stay out of their flight path. In terms of emergency communication transmitting in the blind can also mean the person transmitting isn't trying to reach anyone specific, their transmission is intended for anyone and everyone able to receive it, usually because the transmission being sent is an SOS seeking help.
- GoofsAmy Granderson asks Alicia if Captain Chandler still respects the chain of command and will follow her orders, however she has no authority over the military. Granderson was the vice-chairman of the Defense Policy Board Advisory Committee (DPB), she called it the "President's" committee but they don't directly advise the President. The DPB is made up of civilians, most of whom are ex-military, that are experts on military operations. They advise the leadership of the Department of Defense, namely the Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of Defense and the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy on matters of defense policy. But they serve in an advisory capacity only, unlike the SECDEF and Deputy SECDEF, they are not part of the military chain-of-command and have no operational authority.

So this show is pretty great. It's mindless entertainment and so I wish it were a little more cerebral- can't lie. But it's still good. My first real issue is that tho I can conceive of various situations where a Naval Commander would get sentimental w the crew he's going to probably have to go throw serious life-altering situations, I can't understand WHY the writers would take a group of doctors and without more than a nod have them START CLAPPING?? It really brought a lot of buffoonery to the forefront. And now I'm just expecting a bunch of idiotic writing. Which is a shame bc I kept forgiving some ridiculousness. But this was like adding a brick of butter to an ice cream sandwich. Way too much.
Doctors DO NOT CLAP. They start asking questions and get to work. Wasting 20 min clapping for someone they've never met?
I feel like we are at the part of TWD where it's the same scenario over and over and no one remembers what happened the last time they went into a convenience store - at night - by themselves.
I hope it gets better again.
