Our peripatetic sugar bear/mad meister of Media Re-Mix 99 Hooker trundles thru town once again, here to anchor a carnivalesque compendium of lo-fi apparati, with the premiere of his Incredibly Strange Music Videos - LIVE. His real time breaking and re-making of the music-video genre is preceded by a most-curious collection of early audio technologies, including Rich DeLaup's Drum Buddy, Maurice Martenot's Music from the Spheres, and Max Fleischer's synchronous sound animation. The debut of Scott Alexander's Leon Theremin mini-pic echoes Russ Forster's Theremin-busking! But the real elephant in the room–like it or not--is the utterly unprecedented AI hijinx from none other than Damon Packard! Preceded by Tim Johnson's laserdisc riff and Gerry Fialka's PXL Vision exemplar, Damon's love-hate pak from LA is damn impossible to respond to, so surprising are his hyper-vivid visions from this audacious new kind of media. $12
