from 3322 reviewsI’ve always been a bit of a sucker for a paper bag waist so when this was released I snapped it straight up and got to sewing, since then I have made 3 more pairs, each one better than the last.
The instructions are excellent and the construction was super quick and easy, they are a really enjoyable project and it’s fun to see how the elastic shaped the waistband.
This would be the perfect beginner pattern for someone wanting to give trousers making a go because the instructions are so detailed and there are no tricky closures.
I made a pair of shorts and hacked them to have a drawstring closure with no elastic as I wanted some beach shorts and they turned out perfectly. Not only are you provided with loads of options but there are also loads of possibilities for hacking, some of which are included in the MN blog.
To sum up this is a perfect pattern that you will reach for again and again and definitely get your monies worth
As soon as this was released I could understand why it absolutely blew up in the sewing community. There aren’t actually that many co-ord sewing patterns out there but I know we’re always trying to make our own by Frankensteining patterns so it made sense this would instantly be a hit.
Of course like everyone else I was swept up into the hype, I had some beautiful viscose fabric from Rainbow Fabrics that I knew would be perfect. I was surprised by how quickly and easy this sewed up, because of the elastic waist on both the top and trousers there wasn’t too much fitting needed, although I will say I had to sew an invisible snap to the top as it didn’t offer as much coverage as I would have liked.
I love the finished result so much, not only is it one of the most comfortable sets in my wardrobe, they just look so perfect and summery. They make every summers day feel like a holiday.
This really is the perfect summer pattern, and I love that you have the option to mix and match, it gives me the clueless wardrobe vibes and I am really here for it!
I’ve yet to make the trouser version of this pattern, but I’ve sewn up the shorts version a few times and absolutely love them!
I really like that there is no side seam so they come together ridiculously quickly, and with no tricky fastenings this is an excellent beginners pattern.
The wide elastic waist makes them really comfy and the shorts are the perfect length of being cropped but not too short that it shows everyone everything.
This is my summer go to when I need a pair of shorts sewn up in less than an hour because I’m being rushed out the house by an impatient husband 😂
I really love a statement collar, however, when this pattern was released, as intrigued as I was I worried it crossed the line a little into clown core (not that that’s a bad thing, but being a tiny wiry human I frequently look like an escaped artiste).
But as more and more versions kept popping up on my social feeds I could no longer deny that this was a bit of me. I gave it a go and absolutely loved it!
It’s so fun and playful, it made me feel like the best dressed kid going to a friend’s birthday party.
I made it in a mid weight cotton poplin and it sewed like a breeze, the hardest part was gathering the collar, which was honestly more tedious than difficult.
The instructions are great and it’s got a nice boxy fit without being to oversized and swampy.
I’m glad I gave this pattern a go because my wardrobe would have been seriously missing out without it.
I’m a big fan of a bodysuit, I get they can be inconvenient for going to the toilet, but once you master the ‘pull aside’ there really isn’t any reason not to love them.
However, when this was first released I was instantly put off by the front seam, I’m usually a big fan of clean lines and I don’t like anything that has the potential to mess up pattern placement in very visible areas (I’m always too lazy to pattern match).
However, I saw a few amazing versions pop up and I decided, being a true FPC fan I had to give it a go and see what the hype was, and honestly I get it.
The bust pattern piece is lined which means it adds a little extra support and nipple hiding protection, which I know my post breast feeding mummas will be grateful for.
It came together really quickly and is soooo comfy, I reach for it all the time now and always get compliments.
I used a really soft cotton jersey and it was the perfect mix for comfort and support.
This is another excellent pattern from FPC and I can’t believe I ever doubted them. Definitely worth a sew
I’m usually one of the first to snap up FPC patterns when they’re released, but for some reason this one just didn’t resonate with me.
Fast forward a few years and I saw that the designer Chelsea had made a jacket style version in corduroy and I was smitten! Whilst the shirt version may not have been for me, a jacket with the collar and neckline was too much for me to resist.
I had some beautiful denim from Fabric Godmother that I knew would be perfect. I sized up as I knew that this is usually intended for lightweight fabrics and I wanted a boxy yet not too oversized fit and I added a waistband to give it a more jacket style look.
I followed the instructions and it came together perfectly, I am so obsessed with how it turned out, everything about it is beautiful, from the gathered sleeves to the perfectly shaped collar.
I think if I were to make this in a jacket style again, which is very likely I will hack the collar to have a ruffle and I think that would be the perfect finishing feature.
I just love how versatile this pattern is and how it can be adapted to suit anyone’s style.
Unfortunately I haven’t gotten around to taking proper photos wearing it, as end of the year rush and all of that. But I will edit them in once I get around to it.
I had this pattern on my to sew list for ages before I finally got around to making it, and once I had finished I couldn’t believe it took me so long!
Not only did this top sew up in less than an hour, it quickly became one of my most worn makes (and to be honest the most worn amongst my friends who keep ‘borrowing it’ 😂).
The sleeves are a dream, they’re so floaty and voluminous and the bodice is simple yet perfect.
I made it in a viscose jersey and it adds so much fluidity to the overall silhouette.
If you’re looking for a quick and easy project, it just want a beautiful and versatile top then this is the pattern you need. I’ve already added 3 more to my wardrobe and they definitely won’t be the last.
As soon as FG released this I snapped it up, I’ve loved their fabrics since I started sewing and their patterns are no exception.
I sewed it up and I was surprised by how good the instructions and drafting were considering this is their first.
The fit was absolutely perfect right out of the pocket (well I did have to shorten it, but that’s standard because I’m 5’2”). The fit on the bust was so comfy and hugging whilst not tight.
I made it in a cotton fabric and the crispness of it adds a nice structure to the sleeves but I think next time I would like to try something with a little drape.
I think the biggest tell tale of how good it was is that I managed to insert a concealed zipper flawlessly which basically never happens, I avoid at all costs usually!
I love the option for the shorter version too and will be making that next. This really is such a beautiful pattern, check out the # if you don’t believe me there are an insane amount of stunning versions online.
I can’t wait to see what they release in 2025 if this is the standard 😍
I wanted a comfortable yet cute dress to wear at Christmas that would allow plenty of room for Xmas dinner eating. I’d been eyeing the Cassiope for a while and though it would be perfect, boy was I right! Not only does this dress look amazing, it is so comfy I never wanted to take it off!!
The instructions were excellent and because there are no tricky closures and it’s a raglan sleeve it came together so quickly. I really want to make an every day one now because I’m sad that this one is only really suitable for the festive period, although I probably still will end up wearing it in July 😂
As soon as I saw the floral sample of this dress I had dreams of making my own version (literally I was dreaming about it).
I had some gorgeous crinkle viscose from fabric godmother that I knew would be perfect.
It takes quite a lot of fabric and this was one of the few pieces that I knew I would have enough of.
I really enjoyed making this dress, it is definitely a time consuming one. I had to be really patient and pace myself because there are quite a few fiddle details and sooo many buttons. I had to avoid button holes for a while after this because I was so done. It didn’t help that this fabric didn’t press well and frayed so much that I had to increase the seam allowance from 3/8” to 1/2”
I absolutely love how it turned out though, it is so pretty and flattering. The princess seams are really complimenting and the long swishy skirt adds so much fun.
This pattern is not for the faint of heart but it is so beautiful that once you get past the difficult bits you will end up with a dress that you absolutely adore!
I had such a good time sewing up this coat. I’m usually a speedy sewist as I’m always far too impatient to see the end results, however I really made myself slow down for this and I loved every single moment of making it.
The instructions are very clear, and the construction was great, for a very complex looking coat it was actually not to difficult of a sew. I even aced the welt pockets which usually give me the fear sweats.
I love that it’s got an oversized fit without completely swamping you out. They’ve somehow managed to achieve the perfect balance.
I used a heavy weight wool blend got the main and a pink viscose sateen for the lining. I love how the two colours pop! It still blows my mind a little when I think that I made this, but I have this pattern to thank for holding my hand and making this a thoroughly enjoyable project.
If you’re looking to extend your sewing skills in 2025 and really push yourself then I would recommend giving this a go, my one advice- get it printed in A0 because that is a LOT of pages to tape together.
I’ve sewn this pattern a few times and each version gets heavy rotation in my wardrobe.
I love the pocket style and the fit is just so good and flattering. I also love that there’s a version for men and kids so it’s great for the whole family. This is my go to jogger pattern, I would however recommend interacting the pocket opening though as mine have warped over time. This is one of their older patterns so maybe they will give it an update and a refresh soon
The instructions are ok, but it’s a pretty straightforward pattern so it doesn’t matter too much that they’re a little lacking.
If you’re looking for a simple but well drafted basic then this is perfect pattern. I have made it twice now and both versions get a lot of wear for lounging.
It is a really good palette cleanser project as it sews up really quickly (especially if you have an overlocker) and the instructions are really clear and detailed.
It is pretty much a you get what’s on the tin pattern, but it is very flattering and I swear bloating comfort was a considered factor when drafting this pattern as they stay comfy even after a large meal or PMS bloat. Absolutely love them
I wanted to make a shirt for my son’s first day of school and after ages of hunting for a kids collared button up shirt pattern (the market is surprisingly lacking) I saw this, I’ve made W&W patterns before so I know they’re always to an incredible standard, and this was no exception. I made it in a cotton flannel and he just looked so bloomin cute! Since then I’ve made a few more using this pattern and they’re all so perfect. The instructions are excellent and it was a really enjoyable project to make.
He has requested some more shirts, and I have some of the carrot fabric left over so I may have to recreate the shirt for his next birthday. I also made my partner a matching carrot shirt and they love wearing them together
I’ve made these trousers a few times and I absolutely love them!
The silhouette is so perfect and flattering and the tapered legs are so good!
I love that there is an option for a fitted waistband or an elastic back version and I just always feel so good wearing the ones I’ve made.
The instructions are excellent and the drafting is superb. I honestly can’t recommend these enough they will continue to be my go to trouser pattern
