But even while Dickens was leading this hurried, busy life he found time to write other things besides newspaper reports, and little tales and sketches began to appear signed by Boz. Boz was a pet name for Dickens's youngest brother.
The sketches by Boz were well received, but real fame came to Dickens with the Pickwick Papers which he now began to write.
First of all I heard him say: and the most ludicrous part of the business was, that he said it in my very ear, and could not have communicated more directly with me, if he had leaned upon my shoulder, and whispered me: '
Boz is on board still, my dear.' After a considerable pause, he added, complainingly, '
Boz keeps himself very close;' which was true enough, for I was not very well, and was lying down, with a book.
The successful series of lively 'Sketches by
Boz' dealing with people and scenes about London was preliminary to 'The Pickwick Papers,' which made the author famous at the age of twenty-four.
"Thirty years in the making and still run by Andy and
Boz with their dedicated team, Off The Tracks proves that small is beautiful and can still dish up top music and entertainment without being corporate.
Tributes have been paid on social media with people paying their respects to '
Boz' and flowers have been laid at the scene.

Boz Scaggs, who came to fame in the late 1970s with "Lido Shuffle" and "Lowdown" off his "Silk Degrees" album, will be the first to perform in 2019 on the Village Green outside the Elk Grove municipal complex, 901 Wellington Ave.
In later years this became The Steve Miller Band and
Boz played on their first two albums, Children Of The Future and Sailor.
The other billion dollars attributed to
BOZ's headquarters in Little Rock came from brokered deposits, bundled deposits that banks seek out in order to fund loan demand.
