Any of a group of closely related fat-soluble compounds, consisting of the tocopherols (especially alpha-tocopherol) and the tocotrienols, that are found chiefly in vegetable oils, nuts and seeds, wheat germ, and leafy green vegetables, and act as antioxidants in the body.
