Also, the word "Judeao-" in the English title should be corrected either to "Judeo-" or "Judaeo-." Yet, a more accurate title for the book would be: "A Selection of Urban Iraqi Songs as Retained by the Jews of Baghdad." In spite of these reservations, this volume is a fine documentation of the recent cultural past of Iraq and its Jews.

But we do well to remember that his principal point--divine retribution because of man's sinning against God and his commandments--is a major truth of the Judaeo- Christian tradition.
