A mocking-bird (
Mimus orpheus), called by the inhabitants Calandria, is remarkable, from possessing a song far superior to that of any other bird in the country: indeed, it is nearly the only bird in South America which I have observed to take its stand for the purpose of singing.
ABSTRACT The octopuses Octopus hubbsorum and Octopus mimus are two species of octopuses that inhabit shallow waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean.
KEY WORDS: Octopodidae, taxonomy, mitochondrial DNA, synonymy, Octopus hubbsorum, Octopus mimus
The octopuses Octopus hubbsorum Berry, 1953, and Octopus mimus Gould, 1852, are two species of octopuses that inhabit the shallow waters of the eastern Pacific Ocean.
The phylogenetic relationships of Octopus hubbsorum are unknown whereas those of Octopus mimus have drawn little attention.
The sequences of Octopus mimus included in this study were 4 for COI, 6 for COIII, and 2 for r16S, and these were taken from Soller et al.
Florin is turned over to Theodo's jester, Mimus, to be his apprentice.
There is far more to Mimus than meets the eye: only he is perceptive enough to understand where the warring countries are headed, politically and psychologically.
Erythrolamprus bizona ranges from Costa Rica, south to Colombia and northern Venezuela and occurs from 8-1450 m in Costa Rica; Erythrolamprus mimus ranges from Honduras through Panama, western Colombia, Ecuador and northwestern Venezuela and occurs from 1-1200 m in Costa Rica (Savage 2002).
mimus (females n = 7, SVL = 557 mm [+ or -] 37 SD, range = 504-615 mm; males n = 6, SVL = 482 mm [+ or -] 105 SD, range = 288-553 mm) from Costa Rica were examined from the herpetology collection of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, Los Angeles (LACM).
The following specimens of Erythrolamprus mimus were examined by Costa Rica province: ALAJUELA (LACM 150714, 150715, 150723, 150725, 150728), HEREDIA (LACM 150716, 150717, 150719), LIMON (LACM 150720), PUNTARENAS (LACM 150718, 150724), PROVINCE DATA MISSING (LACM 150721, 150722).
mimus were undergoing spermiogenesis (= sperm formation) with metamorphosing spermatids and sperm present.
