(kou′rē)n. pl. kau·ris
1. Any of several coniferous evergreen trees of the genus Agathis, especially A. australis of New Zealand, having broad leathery leaves. Also called kauri pine.
2. The white close-grained wood of one of these trees.
3. A resinous copal or a fossilized resin of these trees, chiefly A. australis, formerly used in varnishes and in the manufacture of linoleum. Also called kauri gum.
